
Commercial Component Designer

Carter Lumber is seeking a Commercial Component Designer responsible for creating structural frameworks that support roofs, ceilings, and walls in commercial building projects. This role ensures drawings are produced accurately and on schedule based on customer-provided blueprints. It requires knowledge of commonly used concepts and practices within the construction industry. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.
Requirements
Knowledgeable in the basic aspects of construction
Previous experience using truss or component design software
High level of knowledge in the application of the products being designed
Competency in basic mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry
Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Responsibilities Design
Creates design illustrations based on blueprints to produce working drawings for fabrication
Works with a variety of materials to create trusses, beams, wall panels, and other structural components
Completes and finalizes designs for production and assembly
Evaluates designs to ensure all design standards and requirements are met
Analyses and Troubleshoots
Reviews and analyzes specifications, blueprints, engineered drawings, and related documents to determine factors affecting the design of commercial walls, truss, and engineered wood components
Support
Communicate with production teams, customers, and Store Managers to ensure designs remain accurate throughout the process
Assist stores in responding to customer questions and concerns
