Heavy Highway Construction Supervisor

Directly supervise and coordinate activities of assigned field employees assigned to grading in a heavy highway construction environment. Provides leadership and is responsible for safety, scheduling, workforce planning, coordinating, supervising and cost control. Abides by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Reliable attendance is required. Please note work may be away from home requiring overnight stays possibly a week at a time or longer. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Responsible and accountable for the safety of assigned crew members. Oversees and coordinates the activities of field employees while assessing competency of the capabilities and needs of the crew. Monitors work and ensures work performed meets project plans and specifications. Oversees, operates, and monitors maintenance of equipment related to moving dirt, including excavators, loaders, dozers, and motor graders. Oversees and performs setup and use of stringless grading GPS or UTS systems. Identifies needs and deficiencies in the schedule and communicates these to the appropriate people. Reads grade stakes and uses grade hubs for sub-grade preparation. Communicates with appropriate people about any needs, concerns, etc. Assists in accident investigation. Other duties as assigned. Education and/or experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and Three years of previous heavy highway construction experience; or An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Previous Asphalt and Concrete Paving experience preferred. Certificates, licenses, registrations: Valid driver's license. Must be insurable. Skills and abilities: Must be able to secure equipment, loading and unloading equipment and cleaning the equipment. Ability to read, analyze, interpret and accurately obtain necessary information from related source documents/data such as design plans and specifications, and other reference materials. Knowledge of project construction scope and objectives. Working knowledge of types of equipment necessary for productiontrimmers, motor grader, etc. Familiarity with NDOR and City of Lincoln specifications for subgrade preparation, foundation course and fine grading. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Bilingual in English & Spanish is preferred, but not necessary.
