HR Annie Consulting, Inc., Portland, OR, United States
Senior HR Consultant Opportunity
You've built a meaningful career in HR, whether in a growing company, a corporate environment, or as the go-to leader for a small- to mid-sized business. You're the person people trust when things get complex: navigating tough terminations, leading employee relations investigations, or coaching managers through real challenges, not just giving quick answers. You're exceptional at what you do, and you've gained a level of experience that opens new doors. Now, you're starting to think about what's next. Maybe it's work that feels more balanced, more flexible, or more aligned with how you want to show up. Less about carrying it all for one organization, and more about expanding your impact in a way that's energizing, sustainable, and fully leverages your expertise. Does this resonate? Keep reading. HR Annie Consulting is a women-owned HR consulting firm based in Portland, OR. We've been supporting businesses with all things HR for over 15 years through a culture, best-practice, and compliance-focused lens. Our clients span the Pacific Northwest and beyond, and they come in all sizes and industries. What they have in common: they genuinely care about their people, and they trust us to tell them what they need to hear. We're hiring for a Senior HR Consultant to join our growing team! Key Details: Salary: $110k - $120k/year Benefits: Employer-paid health insurance premiums; 401(k) with 3% employer contribution; PTO + paid holidays; profit-sharing bonus; cell phone & internet reimbursement; AAA membership; Employee Assistance Program; professional development reimbursement; and more Location: We work at our company office in SE Portland, from home, and conduct on-site work with clients. Schedule: MondayFriday, full-time (40+ hours/week), regular business hours As a Senior HR Consultant, you'll work with clients and serve as their trusted HR partner. This role is both strategic and operational; you might be advising a leadership team on their people strategy in the morning and working through a policy update or handbook review that afternoon. Both matter here. A typical day could include: Leading strategy meetings with business owners and HR leaders to understand their needs and define the work ahead Navigating complex employee relations: investigations, protected leaves, performance management, and separations Developing HR infrastructure: policies, handbooks, onboarding programs, compensation frameworks, and compliance practices Supporting multi-state clients with current working knowledge of employment law Managing project timelines and delegating appropriately to project support team members Collaborating with HR Annie's recruitment, training, and background check teams to deliver integrated services, cross-channel introductions, and referrals Representing HR Annie at networking events, workshops, and speaking engagements; mentoring colleagues on the consulting team You're probably a great fit if you: Have 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including meaningful time at the manager, director, or head-of-HR level across multiple organizations. Have the confidence to tell clients what they need (not just what they asked for), and the interpersonal skill to bring them along Think ahead, not just react you lead with strategy and follow through on execution Can manage multiple active client engagements simultaneously without losing momentum Have a natural comfort with business development conversations and connecting people to solutions Thrive with autonomy and take real ownership of your work and your client relationships Have worked in or closely with companies across a range of industries and sizes Are curious about technology and open to learning new tools as our company evolves SHRM-CP or SCP certification is a plus, not a requirement. Something to keep in mind: This is not a hands-off advisory role. If you're ready to step fully away from the operational side of HR, this probably isn't the right fit. Our consultants are seasoned professionals who stay hands-on, and they like it that way. We've built something here worth protecting: a culture of trust, mutual respect, and real work-life integration. People come to HR Annie because the work is good. And so are the people we do it with.
