
OB-GYN Marketing Associate (5004)

Job Overview
This position in the Office of Marketing, Communications and Engagement develops and executes publicity programs with specialization in marketing account management, public relations, social media, and web management. The individual will work with assigned SIU Medicine departments to facilitate communications needs, identify creative marketing opportunities, write and fully execute content development tactics.
Note: This position is ON SITE only.
Responsibilities
50%:
Manages communications, marketing plans and promotional programs for SIU Medicine department accounts, including researching and gathering information, drafting, editing and verifying content, assisting in development of internal materials, managing promotions of public education outreach, and serving as lead marketing budget and campaign planner.
20%:
Develops digital and social media content and strategies to improve the online presence of assigned departments, managing and monitoring online presence, creating and administering content for campaigns across multiple platforms, measuring and tracking social media growth and recommending changes in strategy.
20%:
Serves as the primary web content editor for all department web pages and content on siumed.edu, siumed.org, and thehive.siumed.edu, including writing, editing and basic layout via content management systems.
10%:
Plans and coordinates media relations activities and determines proper messaging and audience for assigned departments, acting as liaison between academic/clinical departments and outside media/partners.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, radio/television broadcasting, web/digital media, public relations, marketing, business, research or a related field.
3 years of professional work experience in public relations, journalism, social media, communications, marketing, newspaper reporting, radio/television broadcasting, or science news or research publications.
Note: A Master’s degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one year of work experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of English language structure, usage, composition rules and grammar.
Knowledge of recruitment practices.
Knowledge of social media analytics, publishing tools, web analytics and tracking technologies.
Knowledge of marketing strategy and tactics, product promotion, sales techniques, and control systems.
Knowledge of media production, social media platforms, communication and dissemination techniques.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, presentation software, spreadsheets, video creation/editing, web page creation/editing, and analytical or scientific software.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
Skill in producing live social media coverage.
Skill in verbal and written communication.
Skill in identifying complex problems, reviewing related information to develop options, evaluate them, and implement solutions.
Skill in time management, organizing work assignments, and responding quickly and effectively to challenges.
Ability to develop and execute marketing and strategic communications plans to effect outcomes.
