Fringe Sport is hiring: Director of Ecommerce & Growth in Austin

Fringe Sport, Austin, TX, United States

Director of Ecommerce & Growth — We Don’t Need a Marketing Manager. We Need a Growth Weapon.

Director of Ecommerce & Growth — We Don’t Need a Marketing Manager. We Need a Growth Weapon.

You’ve built offers that made people buy at full price. You’ve launched products that sold out before the ad spend even kicked in. You’ve personally written the PDP, constructed the bundle, set up the email sequence, briefed the creative, watched the numbers in real time, and then done it again better the next month. You didn’t just manage the people who did this. You did this 0 and then you taught someone else to do it too, because you know the only way to scale yourself is to build a team of killers who operate at your standard. You use AI to move at a speed that makes people wonder if there are ten of you. And when you find someone with the same fire, you coach them until they’re as dangerous as you are.

If that’s you, keep reading. If it’s not, this isn’t your role and we’d both figure that out fast.

Who We Are

Fringe Sport is an Austin-based DTC garage gym equipment company. We’re building the best garage gym equipment company in the world. We’re on a FAST and profitable growth trajectory. Our products elt squats, squat racks, bumper plates, and specialty equipmentre beloved by serious garage gymmers who want the smartest buy, not the cheapest one.

Our growth engine is product. We design equipment that makes people’s jaws drop, build offers that make the purchase a no-brainer, and tell the story so well that the right customer feels like an idiot for not buying from us. Paid ads are fuel. Discounts are a tool. But the strategy is awesome products turning into demand.

We are not trying to become a Meta-dependent brand. We are not trying to only "scale spend." We are building a 50-year company by being the most trusted, most customer-focused, most product-obsessed team in the garage gym space.

What You’ll Own

Everything ecommerce. The P&L, the launches, the offers, the calendar, the agencies, the numbers.

You’ll report directly to our CEO/Founder. You’ll direct a retention agency (email/SMS), a paid ads agency, a full-time videographer, a part-time designer, and a marketing coordinator you’ll help hire. That’s your team. It’s small on purpose ecause we believe one exceptional operator armed with AI outperforms a department of ten without it.

In your first year, you will:

 • Own the Ecom P&L: $18.3M web + $500K Amazon revenue at 32%+ contribution margin
 • Execute 4-6 major product launches with full go-to-market excellence positioning, offer, PDP, email/SMS, paid creative, post-launch analysis
 • Reduce our discount dependency from ~70% of orders to under 40% y building offers so good that people buy at full price
 • Build the marketing machine: SOPs documented, reporting cadence locked in, AI deployed across workflows, team hired and performing
 • Demonstrate predictable, profitable growth month over month and year over year

Who You Are

You’re an operator, not a strategist who delegates. You’ve personally driven revenue growth at a DTC brand not oversaw the team that did it. You built the offer. You wrote the brief. You watched the ROAS. You fixed the PDP. You called the audible on launch day.

You use AI like oxygen. Not as a novelty as infrastructure. You use it to write, analyze, create, test, and move faster than anyone thinks one person can move.

You train. You have a garage gym, or you want one. You understand our products because you use products like ours. When you see a new belt squat attachment, your first thought is about the training application, not the SKU count.

You’ve read $100M Offers and it changed how you think about marketing. You understand that a great offer is designed, not discounted. You know the difference between creating demand and renting attention.

You’re competitive. You want a scoreboard. You want to know the number, beat the number, and then set a higher number.

What This Role Is NOT

We want to be upfront so nobody wastes their time:

 • This is not a "scale Meta spend" role. If your playbook is "increase ad budget and everything works out," we’ve tried that. It cost us $500K+ in lost profit. We’re not doing it again.
 • This is not a "build a big team" role. You’ll have a coordinator and agencies. You won’t have 15 direct reports. If you need a department to produce results, this isn’t the right fit.
 • This is not a strategy-deck job. We don’t need a 60-slide marketing plan. We need someone who ships campaigns, builds offers, launches products, and reads dashboards every single week.
 • This is not a remote role. We’re hybrid in Austin, TX. Our products are big, physical, and heavy. You need to touch them, use them, and be in the building with the team multiple days per week.

Compensation

 • Base: 120,000 – 150,000
 • Performance bonus: Up to 100,000/year based on contribution margin targets
 • At target total comp: 170K 0K depending on performance
 • Benefits, gym access (obviously), and the chance to build something meaningful at a company that gives a damn about its customers

The variable comp isn’t a gimmick. It’s designed for someone who wants a scoreboard. Hit plan, earn well above market. Crush it, and the upside is real.

The Hiring Process

We’re thorough because we’re serious. Expect:

 • Application + resume review \u0009 we’re reading these personally
 • Culture Index survey we use CI to understand behavioral wiring, not to screen you out
 • Phone screen 15-30 minutes - quick mutual fit conversation with the recruiting team
 • Initial Interview eeper discussion of ecommerce ownership, execution, and growth thinking
 • Paid work test + recorded walkthrough omplete a real Fringe Sport exercise (site audit, offer construction, 90-day plan) and submit a short screen-share video walking through your thinking, tradeoffs, and execution approach. We pay you for your time because your work has value.
 • Final interview with leadership inite candidates who pass all prior stages meet with leadership
 • References + offer

How to Apply

Send your resume and a short note (under 300 words) answering this question:

"Tell me about the last product launch or offer you personally built end-to-end. What was the product, what was the offer, what did you do, and what happened?"

If your answer is specific, has numbers, and makes us want to hear more ter you're exactly who we're looking for.

Fringe Sport is an equal opportunity employer. We care about what you can do, not where you come from.
