The Communications & Social Media Coordinator executes communications and social media activities that support established engagement priorities and strategies under the leadership of the Associate Director of Research Engagement. This position supports and executes internal and external communications initiatives that promote and increase awareness of the UNLV Division of Research. It is responsible for producing, editing, and distributing content and marketing materials across platforms to support the Division of Research’s brand, visibility, and messaging. It also manages the Division of Research’s social media activities, including content production, scheduling, audience engagement, and publishing across established and emerging platforms while maintaining brand consistency and adherence to guidelines. Responsibilities

Under the leadership of the Associate Director of Research Engagement, the Communications and Social Media Coordinator executes communications and social media activities that support established engagement priorities and strategies. The role involves: Producing, editing, and distributing content and marketing materials across a variety of platforms and mediums to support the Division of Research’s brand, visibility, and messaging. Executing the Division of Research’s social media activities through content production, scheduling, and audience engagement. Researching and compiling content, drafting and editing digital materials, and publishing approved videos, photos, graphics, and written content across established, new, and emerging platforms while maintaining brand consistency and adherence to established guidelines. Knowledge

Required Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive. Demonstrated understanding of social media fundamentals, audience-centered communication, and major platforms—including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and LinkedIn—with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences for organizational communications. Working knowledge of multimedia editing and content creation tools, such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Express, Canva, and related technologies, with the ability to tell compelling stories through visual media. Solid understanding of communications and marketing principles, including current trends and best practices in digital and new media strategies. Skills

Required Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness. Strong writing and editing skills, including the ability to create clear, engaging content for a variety of audiences and platforms. Familiarity with major social media platforms and a demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and strategies to ensure communications remain current, relevant, and effective. Preferred

Experience with graphic design, website design, and video editing tools and techniques. Abilities

Ability to work collaboratively with leadership, faculty, staff, and internal and external partners across the UNLV campus. Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a

Bachelor’s Degree

from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and

1-3 years of experience

working in a communications or marketing position. Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date. Preferred Qualifications
