Job Overview & Essential Functions
Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America's largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Benefit Specialist. The primary function of the Benefit Specialist is to administer MHC's employee benefit programs and respond to questions related to employee benefits. In addition, the Benefit Specialist is responsible for providing guidance and assistance to all MHC locations on various employee benefits. This position is fully in office 5 days a week in Leawood, KS.
Administers employee benefit programs including the health insurance plans, prescription drug programs, dental plan, vision plan, profit sharing plan, voluntary term life insurance plan, short-term and long-term disability plans, employee assistance program, flexible spending account plan, health savings account plan and credit union.
Responds to inquiries regarding employee benefits.
Functions as a liaison with employees and benefit vendors.
Handles COBRA notifications, enrollments and terminations, including collection of COBRA payments.
Acts as Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and leave of absence (LOA) coordinator.
Assists with the development of benefit presentations and communication materials to educate employees about benefit plans.
Compiles data and creates a variety of reports requiring computer skills.
Continually identifies areas for improvement and implements new procedures and processes where possible.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years' experience in human resources or benefits administration preferred.
Requires excellent customer service skills and phone etiquette.
Must be well organized and detail oriented.
Computer skills and previous office experience required.
Must be familiar with employee benefit plan administration.
