Cleveland, OH | Full-Time The CMBA is a 501(C)(6) nonprofit, professional association dedicated to serving the needs of legal and business professionals in Greater Cleveland. A voluntary membership organization, CMBA’s nearly 5,000 members include attorneys and judges, law students, paralegals, and other business professionals who work with and/or in the legal industry. The CMBA’s vision is to serve as the indispensable, go-to organization on issues of law and justice. Each day, the CMBA strives to fulfill that mission by promoting the rule of law and the legal profession by supporting, empowering and celebrating its members and the community. The Bar Foundation is a 501(C)(3) supporting organization organized under the CMBA. Its mission is to raise funds to support the life-changing community and pro bono programs operated by the CMBA. The Bar Foundation sponsors three major annual fundraising events; maintains a distinguished Fellows giving society comprised of distinguished CMBA members recognized for their achievements in the legal, business and civic arenas; and manages a $3 million Endowment created as a result of contributions made by Fellows.
Position Summary The Community Engagement Manager leads the CMBA’s workforce development pipeline programs, community initiatives, and external community partnerships. This role is responsible for designing and executing programs that connect students, legal professionals, and community stakeholders while strengthening pathways into the legal profession.
This is a highly collaborative, externally facing role that requires strong project management, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning and execution of the CMBA’s workforce development and pipeline programs, including the 1L Clerkship Program, Louis Stokes Scholars Program, and Stephanie Tubbs Jones Summer Legal Adventure
Build and manage relationships with law schools, employers, community partners, and affinity organizations to support program success and growth
Recruit, engage, and coordinate volunteers, including attorneys, judges, and law students, as well as identify speakers and mentors when necessary
Oversee program logistics, timelines, and operations, ensuring smooth execution across multiple initiatives and stakeholders
Track program outcomes, maintain organized records, and support reporting to leadership, volunteers, and external stakeholders
Assist with budgeting, grant applications, and fundraising efforts to sustain and expand program impact
Plan and execute events ranging from small meetings to large-scale programs and community initiatives
Support the CMBA’s broader community engagement efforts, including educational programming such as the Mock Trial program
Qualifications
3–7+ years of experience in program management, community engagement, nonprofit operations, or a related field
Strong organizational and project management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
Experience working with diverse communities and partners
