
Underwriter (Commercial)

Anchor Group Management Inc. is looking for a Commercial Underwriter to join our team. This position will report directly to the Underwriting Manager and will be responsible for reviewing, documenting and analyzing commercial auto risks in accordance with guidelines established by our carrier partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrates ability to independently review and approve applications submitted and renewals in accordance with carrier guidelines, procedures and delegated authority.
Responds to referrals or traditional submissions from broker partners through point‑of‑sale system within standard timeframes.
Determines appropriate pricing by either applying predictive model results or recommended deviation in conjunction with Underwriting leadership.
Has established proficiency with loss rating, composite rating and other non‑traditional rating methods.
Prepares quotes, issues policies and follows up for completion of quote subjectivities.
Prescreens renewal business and makes recommendations for non‑renewal.
Works autonomously and thinks creatively.
Accountable for results of assigned Territory and/or Brokers. Understands the cause and effect of any adverse result and makes recommendations to management for an effective solution.
Keeps current with changing trends, economic indicators, competitors and state regulations.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing established department goals.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 1‑year Commercial Auto Underwriting experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of Underwriting principles and ISO rules.
Ability to manage, prioritize and perform multiple tasks and projects while maintaining workload.
Effective interpersonal, communication and time‑management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external customers.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
Ability to travel overnight 10% of the time.
