Orlando Health is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Emergency Communication Coordinator to serve as the central hub for emergency transport and patient transfer operations. In this vital role, you will coordinate and dispatch the Air Care Team, Critical Care Trucks, and Emergency Transfer Center activities, ensuring safe and timely transport across our healthcare network.

As the first point of contact during urgent situations, you will manage multiple communication channels, operate advanced dispatch and EHR systems, and collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to facilitate life‑saving transfers. This position demands strong multitasking abilities, critical thinking, and calm decision‑making under pressure. Ideal candidates are self‑motivated leaders with experience in healthcare or emergency services, ready to take charge and ensure seamless coordination during high‑stakes events.

Schedule: Rotating 3x12‑hour shifts (days
ights as assigned).

Responsibilities

Perform primary flight following duties for all Air Care Team aircraft and Critical Care Trucks.

Communicate with all flight/ground crew as needed to relay important information for safe flight and situational awareness.

Coordinate interfacility transport of patients within the Orlando Health system
etwork.

Answer incoming requests for service and coordinate operations for the Air Care Team and Critical Care Trucks utilizing multiple telephones, computers, mapping software, radios, flight applications, dispatch software, and other technology/software.

Triage and perform multiple critical tasks in a stressful environment calmly and efficiently, completing tasks in a timely manner.

Operate specialized computer systems and EHR/EMR for rapid entry and processing of all requests for air medical services.

Operate the phone system to coordinate transfer and transport communication processes.

Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to facilitate transfer and transport requests.

Utilize Orlando Health EHR system and applications to coordinate transfer and transport communication related to patients’ medical records.

Dispatch flight/ground crews via department‑approved dispatching systems, and radio swiftly, accurately, and efficiently.

Demonstrate competency in unit‑specific tasks and skills as defined by the unit competency list.

Communicate appropriate information regarding aspects of the mission to team members for effective decision making.

Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards.

Use policies, procedures and algorithms to facilitate critical thinking required for transferring and transporting patients.

Collaborate with leadership as needed to receive proper clinical support to ensure safe and timely transport and transfer of patients.

Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Graduate or equivalent.

Medical Terminology course, CNA license, or EMS Dispatch experience.

State of Florida EMT license may be substituted for required coursework.

None required for licensure/certification.

Two (2) years of experience in a clinical healthcare setting; or State of Florida EMT license may substitute for up to one (1) year of required experience.
