The Director of Community Engagement leads outreach, communications, and partnership strategies to strengthen connections between the organization and the community. This role advances awareness, access, and participation in early learning services by overseeing marketing, public relations, events, and literacy initiatives. The Director cultivates strategic partnerships and supports resource development efforts, including fundraising and donor engagement. By guiding a high-performing team and aligning all efforts with organizational goals and regulatory requirements, the Director maximizes community impact and organizational effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY TASKS

Promote organizational excellence by fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement and accountability that values learning and a commitment to quality and impact.

Design and develop community engagement initiatives that increase awareness across the community and service area.

Oversee communication, marketing and advertising activities, outreach and event success, to ensure consistent messaging, strong community presence, measurable results, including effective implementation of literacy initiatives.

Ensure all activities, including engagement, outreach, and community efforts are coordinated, efficient and aligned with organizational goals.

Serve as the agency’s community liaison for partnerships.

Maintain regular and effective communication with the leadership team to support alignment and informed decision-making.

REQUIRED SKILLSETS

Task/Judgment – Design, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of processes. Limited involvement with task execution.

Independence/Expertise – Acquire expertise in Florida law and rules that govern programs managed.

Service/Initiative - Develop strategies for successful implementation of programs.

Supervision – Work independently and engage staff to work with limited supervision.

Agency Growth – Seek organizational growth opportunities and nurture community partnerships.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

A bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field from an accredited university/college.

Minimum five years of supervisory experience.

Minimum five years of previous marketing and/or community outreach experience.

PREFERRED

Previous experience in a non-profit or governmental organization.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Telework will require internet speeds of 4Mpbs download/4Mpbs upload and working in the immediate geographical area.

Must have reliable transportation, minimum insurance coverage, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.

Occasional work may occur during non‑traditional working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Will need a reliable mobile phone service for technology compliance requirements (i.e. multifactor authentication).

Specific vision abilities may include close vision and the ability to focus for prolonged periods of time.

Developmentally appropriate interactions with children may be required in the work environment.
