Job Overview
Torch is seeking a
Junior Systems Engineer/Analyst
to work on cutting‑edge missile defense systems. The role involves leveraging modeling and simulation to analyze missile defense systems, perform data analysis, and evaluate software performance. Responsibilities include analyzing simulation data, running system and component‑level simulations, and testing to assess missile defense system performance. Source code review to evaluate software behavior and performance is also required. Proficiency in Python is essential. Excellent communication skills are required to present findings to government customers and stakeholders. Travel to support live‑fire missile tests.
Responsibilities
Analyze missile defense system behavior to identify potential improvements in tactical software, develop future capabilities/improvements, and assist in the creation of tactical defense designs.
Analyze massive amounts of missile defense data using statistical analysis techniques to determine and communicate system performance.
Develop Python‑based tools capable of retrieving, manipulating, and visualizing massive amounts of missile defense data.
Create, maintain, and improve an existing Python‑based post‑processing and analysis tools suite.
Effectively communicate analysis results to customers and program stakeholders.
Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship.
B.S. or B.S.E. in Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics from an ABET‑accredited university.
0–3+ years of applicable software design engineering experience.
Proficiency in Python and Python‑based libraries for data analysis.
Clearance: Secret or higher – must have the ability to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
10–20% travel.
