TheInterventionSpecialistisafull-time,salariedpositionwitha9.5-monthworkschedule.The Intervention Specialist will report to the Director of Student Services.

Position Overview TheInterventionSpecialistwillteachstudentsinavarietyofsmallgroupclasses and will assist teachers in supporting students with IEP's in a general education classroom setting. He or she will understand and implement the school's Hillsdale K-12 classical curriculum, student instruction, and work collaboratively to ensure a learning climate for all students that is safe, secure, and respectful.

Essential duties and responsibilities fortheInterventionSpecialistareasfollows

Adherestoestablishedstandardsregardingcurriculumdeliveryandrequirementsas established by the school

Providesprofessionalinstructionandteachingtostudentswithdisabilitiesasappropriateto the specified course or discipline and academic level, using various techniques, including individualized and small group instruction, to promote learning

PreparesforIEPmeetings,describingthestudent'spresentleveloffunctioningandproposes measurable IEP goals and objectives for team consideration

Understandsthecontinuumofprogrammingoptionsthatcanbeusedtomeettheindividual needs of the student to provide an appropriate education.

Providesindividualizededucationalplans fortheprovision ofspeciallydesigned instruction

Participatesinthereviewofthe IEP withthestudent'sparents,schooladministrators,andoften, the student's general education teacher

Collects, documents, and analyzes the student's current progress on his/her individualized educationalplan,workingcloselywithparentstoinformthemoftheirchild'sprogressand suggest techniques to promote learning at home

Organizesandeffectivelycommunicatesclass/courseobjectives,standardsandrequirements for successful achievement, e.g., syllabi, tests, specific tasks

Provides guidance and assistance to students as needed in order to ensure appropriate assimilationoftheclass/coursecontentinanefforttosupportstudentsuccessand achievement

Ensuresallappropriatemeasures,includingspecialaccommodations,areineffectforstudents with disabilities

Assistsgeneraleducationteacherstoadaptcurriculummaterialsandteachingtechniquestomeet the needs of students with learning disabilities

Workswithstudentswithdisabilitiesinavarietyofsettings,toinclude workingasaspecial educationresourceteacherandofferingindividualizedhelptostudentsingeneral education classrooms

Teaches together with general education teachers in classes composed of both general and specialeducationstudents;orworkingwithspecialeducationstudentsforseveralhoursadayin a resource room, separate from their general education classroom

Usesspecializedequipmentsuchascomputerswithsynthesizedspeech,interactive educational software programs, and audio systems to assist children

Qualifications TheInterventionSpecialistshallbeapersonwhoiswell-organized,well-rounded,engaging,andwho hastheabilitytofacilitategrowthandcollaborationinsideandoutsideoftheclassroom.Additionally, strong candidates will:

Provideevidenceofanabilityandcommitmenttofurtheringtheclassicalmissionandvisionof the school

Haveaminimumoffive (5)yearsofrelevantprofessionalexperiencewith aminimumofa bachelor's degree

Showademonstratedtrackrecordofsuccessinteachingandleadershipexperienceinaschool setting

Hold(orbeeligibletohold)an OhioTeaching Licensewith certificationin SpecialEducation
