Overview

The University of Maryland's Francis King Carey School of Law is welcoming applications for an energetic, entrepreneurial self-starter to join the admissions team as an Assistant Director. The position emphasizes JD recruitment, communications, data reporting, and technology efficiency within the admissions office, including the graduate law programs. The Admissions Office oversees recruitment and enrollment for Maryland Carey Law's JD, LLM, and MSL programs and offers a dynamic environment that values team members' ideas and ownership over individual processes. Maryland Carey Law is located in downtown Baltimore and is within reach of the Inner Harbor and other historic neighborhoods, with easy access to the nation’s capital via a short train ride. The Assistant Director supports all aspects of JD admissions and recruiting functions, such as attending recruitment fairs, coordinating prospect and applicant outreach, managing applicant visits, planning and implementing on-campus and off-campus events, application review, applicant interviewing, and other back-end admissions work as needed. This role requires regional, national, and international travel, strong analytical and interpersonal skills, sound judgment, diplomacy, technology and data reporting capabilities, and the use of data to support outreach planning. The position may require travel and associated expenses to be reimbursed. Some weekend and evening work for recruitment and admissions events is expected. BENEFITS (Exempt Regular):

Recruitment, Outreach, and Engagement

Assist with the oversight, implementation, and participation of all outreach and engagement activities related to new student recruitment, including travel to represent Maryland Carey Law at regional, national and international events (travel often includes weekends and/or evenings). Coordinate outreach initiatives, including hosting panel events, webinars, chat sessions, and regular phone and email communication with prospective students. Coordinate all on-campus and off-campus Admissions events. Provide counseling to prospective students regarding all aspects of the law school application process. Application review and evaluation

Review and evaluate hundreds of application files on a timely basis. Conduct a large number of admission interviews for the JD program. Communications and Data Reporting

Create, implement, and monitor a communications plan for Admissions Office's JD, MSL, and LLM programs, including data gathering for digital campaigns. Collaborate with the Office of Marketing on digital and other advertising initiatives. Assist with the creation and implementation of communications efforts, including email campaigns. Collect, monitor, and report admissions data as needed at the direction of the Associate Dean of Admissions. Utilize technology to maximize efficiency for the Admissions Office. Stay current on updates and best practices for the CRMs, including Unite and Ellucian. Additional Admissions Support

Oversee/assist with work-study students to support admissions functions. Generate database reports as assigned. Application processing and database support as needed. Assist with recruitment initiatives for the Master of Laws (LL.M.) and Master of Science in Law (MSL) programs as needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field; JD or graduate degree preferred. Experience:

Two (2) years in admissions, student enrollment, or a related field. Experience with Unite, Ellucian, and other technology tools (AI tools) strongly preferred. Other:

May consider a combination of directly related experience and education. Driver's License required. Ability and willingness to travel regionally, nationally, and sometimes internationally. Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required. Ability to lift/move materials up to 20 lbs during events. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of best practices in law school admissions. Leadership and team-building skills. Advanced level of knowledge and comfort with multiple technology platforms, including Microsoft Office, AI tools, CRMs, and social media. Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit. HIRING RANGE:
