
BODY SHOP ESTIMATOR

Job Description
The Body Shop Estimator helps ensure the overall efficiency, profitability, and reputation of our auto body shop operations by providing timely, accurate, and customer-approved estimates for repair work. He or she documents estimates and the necessary repair work according to established industry standards and insurance company regulations.
The ideal candidate has some post-secondary education or training and at least one year of dealer-level or large facility experience. He or she has an unrestricted driver's license and a clean driving record and a strong technical and customer service performance record. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and good computer skills are required. A certification or designation in the field of automotive repair is a plus. Additionally, certifications with CCC1 Estimating System, Dealertrack DMS, Allstate, United, Nationwide, Progressive and GEICO DRP experience is preferred. The Estimator will also have involvement with parts inventory and matching and some payroll functions.
Responsibilities
Participates in Paint Company, ICAR, ASE, or other training programs, certifications, schools, and events.
Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
Maintains work area in a neat and organized manner
Follows all safety policies and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned
Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order with proper flag sheets, technician notes, etc.
Immediately communicates with body shop manager if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, and/or if repairs cannot be completed in the promised time
Maintains dealership-owned tools and manuals in good working order and assumes accountability for those tools; returns all tools/manuals to their proper place after use
Operates all tooling and equipment in a safe manner
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; some post high school education or training preferred
One year of dealer-level or large facility experience preferred
Certification or designation in the field of automotive repair a plus
Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
Strong organization skills able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Highly professional and dependable
Safety and customer service oriented
Proficient computer and internet skills
Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
Able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles
