Legal Assistant (Personal Injury)
Miami, FL (On‑Site)
About Us DM Law, PA is a growing personal injury law firm in Miami built on strong client relationships, thoughtful legal work, and consistent year‑over‑year growth. This is a unique opportunity to step into the full lifecycle of cases and gain real visibility into how a law firm operates and scales.
The Role We’re looking for someone who is organized, proactive, and solutions‑oriented. Someone who takes ownership, figures things out, and enjoys being both client‑facing and operationally strong. You’ll help manage the day‑to‑day flow of cases while also helping us build better systems, processes, and client experiences as we grow.
What You’ll Do
Case Management & Legal Support
Assist with drafting pleadings and documents for attorney review
File legal documents in appropriate jurisdictions
Maintain accurate litigation calendars with all case deadlines, hearing dates, deposition schedules, and discovery cutoffs
Proactively flag upcoming deadlines to the attorney with sufficient lead time for preparation
Obtain and organize medical records and case documentation
Support discovery and case preparation
Client & Intake Support
Answer phones and serve as a warm, professional first point of contact
Conduct initial client intakes and follow‑ups
Help track referrals and support building referral pipelines
Communicate with clients via phone and email throughout their case
Operations & Relationship Support
Maintain and update case files
Build and organize a clean, reliable client database
Schedule lunches, networking meetings, and follow‑ups
Support light marketing or relationship‑building efforts as needed
What We’re Looking For
2+ years of experience in a legal assistant or paralegal role (personal injury preferred)
Comfortable with legal filings, client communication, and case support
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Proactive and resourceful; you don’t wait to be told what to do
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
Tech savviness and experience with Microsoft Office is a plus
How We Work
Full‑time, 40 hours/week, on‑site in Miami
Occasional flexibility for additional hours during busy periods (e.g., trial prep)
Fast‑moving but supportive environment
We’re building systems as we grow; your input and ownership will make an impact
This role is designed to grow into an Office Manager / Lead Operations role over time for the right person.
What You’ll Gain
Exposure to the full case lifecycle
Direct access to the attorney and decision‑making
Real involvement in how the firm grows and operates
Compensation
Salary: $55,000 – $60,000, based on experience
Opportunity for performance‑based increases or bonuses as the firm grows
Why This Role is Different This isn’t a large firm role where you’re one of many. You’ll be a key partner in the day‑to‑day operation of the firm, trusted with real responsibility early on and part of building something; not just maintaining it.
