Position Description CGI is seeking a high‑potential Senior Asset Accounting Subject Matter Expert (SME) with experience in asset accounting processes for the federal government. The successful candidate will work closely with clients to lead workshops, understand requirements, design and present solutions, configure the system, and complete a full software‑lifecycle implementation of asset‑accounting business process areas within the federal government. The primary focus is on design, configuration, and testing in financial and asset accounting for the public sector, with experience and/or a desire to grow and mentor an Agile team focused on Asset Accounting within the SAP FI/CO modules. This role requires a strong understanding of federal financial accounting processes and solutions.
Location: This position is located in one of CGI Federal’s offices in Fairfax, VA; Lebanon, VA; Lafayette, LA; or Knoxville, TN; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable. You will be required to work in a CGI Federal office two days per week.
Responsibilities
Facilitate the implementation of requirements, design solutions, and configure SAP Asset Accounting for the public sector to enhance the client’s business functionality and overall performance while maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction.
Facilitate workshops to review business requirements and translate them into system requirements and asset‑accounting functions.
Act as a liaison with the client for troubleshooting: investigate, analyze, and resolve software issues; map client business requirements, processes, and objectives; and develop necessary product modifications to meet client needs.
Perform design, configuration, and testing of the FI/CO modules in SAP S/4HANA to support teams dedicated to asset accounting.
Create Functional Design Documents (FDDs) and support the creation of Technical Design Documents (TDDs) and To‑Be asset‑accounting process designs for SAP FI/CO solutions.
Lead the successful implementation of asset‑accounting processes by providing federal financial accounting expertise, guidance, presentations, and instruction to clients.
Required qualifications
U.S. citizenship and successful completion of the CGI background check are required before beginning work. Candidates must also have the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS/CISA EOD/Public Trust clearance.
A minimum of 6 years of business consulting experience in asset accounting and federal financial accounting.
Knowledge of financial management best practices, including demos, test scripts, and functional/technical design documents.
Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and discuss strategies and technical information in a manner that builds rapport and is clear to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Ability to analyze problems and provide clear recommendations.
Strong organizational skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Desired qualifications (non‑essential)
Experience integrating with SAP application areas such as Finance (FI), Asset Accounting (AA), Project Systems (PS), and Funds Management (FM).
Knowledge of key integration points between SAP modules.
Experience with end‑to‑end SAP implementations.
Certification in SAP S/4HANA.
Compensation Estimated range: $89,600.00 – $194,000.00.
