Director of Product Communications

Scott White Search, Trenton, NJ, United States

Director, Oncology Product & Pipeline Communications Central New Jersey

Hybrid (approximately 3 days/week onsite)

A well‑capitalized, publicly traded oncology company with one of the most active late‑stage pipelines in the industry is looking for a Director of Oncology Product and Pipeline Communications to join its US team in Central New Jersey.

This company has more than 15 late‑stage and pivotal trials expected to read out through 2030 across a number of different types of cancers. The US organization is being built from the ground up. This is a foundational hire, not a backfill into an existing structure.

The Opportunity

The Director will lead US product and pipeline communications for a portfolio of late‑stage oncology assets, including programs with near‑term data readouts and launch potential. This person will own the external communications strategy, including media relations, data and regulatory milestones, disease awareness, branded campaigns, executive visibility, and agency management while partnering closely with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Market Access, Regulatory, Legal, and Investor Relations. They have an agency who provides support.

This is not an execution‑only role. The person hired will help shape the US oncology narrative from the ground up and set the standard for how the company communicates its science to patients, providers, payers, and the public.

What You Will Be Working On

Communications strategy for late‑stage oncology assets through data readouts, regulatory milestones, and launch

Media relations — proactive pitching, journalist relationships, press inquiry management

Disease awareness programming, branded campaigns, and digital and social strategy

Executive visibility — external speaking, traditional and social media, internal communications support

Agency management — day‑to‑day partnership with the company's product communications agency of record

Issues management and reputation protection

Cross‑functional partnership across Medical Affairs, Marketing, Market Access, Regulatory, Legal, and IR

What They Are Looking For

10+ years of communications experience in pharma or biotech. In‑house experience is required

Deep oncology product communications background. Candidates with general biotech or agency‑only experience will not be considered

Real launch experience: having worked from the inside on a product launch, including data milestones, regulatory events, and commercial readiness communications

Strong media relations skills — established journalist relationships and comfort with proactive and reactive press work

Experience with disease awareness campaigns, digital and social strategy, and issues management

Ability to advise senior leadership and operate effectively in a matrixed, cross‑functional environment

Entrepreneurial orientation. This organization is still building its structure and processes; candidates who need a fully established playbook will not thrive here

Location

Central New Jersey. This role requires approximately 3 days per week onsite. Candidates must currently live within commutable distance or be planning to relocate independently. No relocation assistance is available.

Compensation

Base salary target is $220,000 (which is the mid‑point of the range), plus an annual bonus, a new hire long‑term incentive grant, and a comprehensive benefits package. Compensation will reflect level and experience.
