Business Development Marketing Internship Stafford, VA

Corps Solutions is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Marketing Intern to support the company's marketing and business development efforts. The Marketing Intern provides analytical, administrative, and communications support across a range of marketing and capture activities. This role is designed to provide students with hands‑on experience in federal contracting (GovCon), strategic communications, and opportunity development. Additionally, the Intern manages the company's website and contributes to process improvements driven by data‑focused and AI‑enabled solutions.

The ideal candidate is a proactive self‑starter with strong communication skills, an interest in professional services or federal contracting, and a desire to contribute to high‑impact initiatives that drive organizational growth.

This position is located within the Growth and Strategy Directorate supporting Marketing and Business Development functions aligned with federal government clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Marketing & Communications Support

Assist in developing and editing marketing materials, including capability statements, brochures, and website content

Support social media strategy and content creation (e.g., LinkedIn posts)

Help to maintain brand consistency across all communications

Market Research & Analysis

Conduct research on target markets, competitors, and industry trends within the federal government contracting space

Identify potential clients, partners, and opportunities aligned with company capabilities

Support pipeline development through data collection and analysis

Business Development & Operational Support

Draft, review, and format business management documents, proposals, position descriptions, press releases, and internal correspondence

Assist with data‑driven aspects of recruiting, research tasks, reporting, and process improvement initiatives

Support business meetings, events, and company functions, including planning, coordination, and administrative preparation

Contribute to business development efforts through research, outreach, awards submissions, and community engagement initiatives

Assist with other business‑management tasks assigned by the Director for Strategy and Growth

Content Development

Draft blog posts, thought leadership pieces, and internal communications

Assist in developing case studies and past performance summaries

Contribute to storytelling efforts that highlight company impact and value

Website Management

Manage website content updates, including text, images, multimedia, and product/service information.

Collaborate with IT teams to align website strategy with business goals

Monitor site analytics, track user behavior, and generate performance reports to guide improvements

Implement search engine optimization best practices to increase visibility and search engine rankings

Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with developers or vendors for resolution

Coordinate website security, including SSL certificates, backups, and protection against cyber threats

Plan and execute website redesigns, migrations, or new feature rollouts

Stay current with emerging web technologies, tools, and digital trends

Develop and maintain documentation for website processes, standards, and workflows

Administrative & Project Support

Provide general support for marketing and Business Development initiatives as needed

Assist in organizing marketing assets and documentation

Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for continuous improvement

QUALIFICATIONS

Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Familiarity with LinkedIn and digital marketing tools

Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)

Basic understanding of proposal development processes

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This is a part‑time paid position for up to 20 hours per week

Flexible work arrangements can be made based on University of Mary Washinton (UMW) internship academic policies, intern availability, and Corps Solutions requirements

This is a structured academic opportunity and requires UMW pre‑approval, internship contract, faculty oversight, and defined workload

This is a developmental role designed to provide exposure to marketing and business development within a government contracting environment
