Overview
The
Inside Rental Representative I
position serves as an inside salesperson for the Cat Rental Store (CRS). This position handles transactions for customers over the phone and in person. The Inside Rental Representative plays a critical role in ensuring customer satisfaction and maximizing machine utilization within the designated trade area. Responsibilities
Assist customers with rental transactions over the phone and in person, promote add-on rental equipment for appropriate applications, and recommend items that meet customer needs.
Explain rental fees and provide information about rented items, including basic operation or description.
Prepare rental forms and contracts; obtain customer signatures and other required information; maintain daily and monthly contract files.
Compute charges based on rental or service rates; collect deposits or payments and balance daily sales receipts; maintain customer charge files.
Answer telephone and receive orders by phone; maintain required phone logs; update/call overdue lists and alert supervisor of overdue contracts.
Reserve items for the requested time and maintain the rental reservation list; explain delivery conditions and notify customers of any delays.
Promote and sell equipment rentals to maximize utilization and customer satisfaction; act as a resource of information to customers regarding available equipment and services in the local market.
Assist with showroom upkeep, arrange displays, keep shelves organized, stocked, and clean.
Resolve customer problems and invoicing issues; maintain knowledge of competitive pricing and market trends.
Adhere to all company policies and safety requirements; attend department, store, and safety meetings; comply with government regulations and store security; report safety violations.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly checks; complete required duties in a safe manner; support and build strong relationships with coworkers and customers.
Maintain strong customer relationships with a focus on long-term mutual growth and dependable partnership.
Possess sales and customer relation skills with strong verbal and written communication; work effectively with all levels of employees, management, and customers.
Qualifications
High school diploma required; college degree preferred. Previous rental experience preferred; demonstrated knowledge and relevant work experience will be considered.
Positive, solutions-oriented mindset with strong time management and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
Knowledge of Caterpillar industry, equipment, basic mechanics, and the local market preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to use in-house computer systems with training.
Must understand and effectively communicate equipment applications and key performance specifications.
Strong creativity and problem-solving skills; thorough knowledge of common equipment failure problems and how to resolve them.
Ability to discern differences between similar products and the advantages/disadvantages of particular applications; working knowledge of construction phases to advise on applications.
Sales and customer relation skills; high energy, self-motivation, and strong work ethics; unwavering commitment to service excellence.

Working Conditions
The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily inside but will also require some outdoor work in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
Position requires the employee to be physically present on the job site.
Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
Requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting; seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
