Description

Responsibilities: Oversees the planning and coordination of grant development; researches funding and quantifies funding opportunities at the federal, state, local municipality and private foundation levels that align with the hospital's strategic priorities. Monitors philanthropic trends, regional giving patterns, and emerging funding opportunities to support proactive fundraising planning. Collaborates with leadership partners and other leaders as necessary to create comprehensive grant proposals, including narratives, budgets and supporting documentation. Role is responsible for writing, editing, and submitting compelling letters of inquiry, proposals, requests, and applications. Facilitates application and proposal development to include creation of project budgets, gathering data from applicable departments, and creating narratives that differentiate the application; monitors and tracks timely grant submissions and billing; develops and prepares metrics to ensure on-track performance relative to any grant requirements; and facilitates grant reporting, as necessary. Conducts research into like-minded foundations, other funding sources, and high-capacity individual donors whose philanthropic interests align with the organization's mission and/or strategic imperatives. Provides briefing materials to hospital leadership to inform cultivation strategies. Manages a grant calendar to monitor deadlines, reporting requirements, and current/future grant cycles and renewal processes. Ensures stewardship for continued funding through maintenance of comprehensive grants records and documentation. Cultivates relationships with program officers at foundations and corporations. Prepares stewardship reports for funders to demonstrate the impact of their funding. Collaborates with clinical, operational, and leadership teams to gather necessary information, align programs with institutional goals, and ensure compliance. Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, non-profit management or related field required. Master's degree preferred. Two (2) Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in grant writing or institutional fundraising experience, preferably in a healthcare, academic medical center or hospital setting. Proven experience in grant writing, including research, proposal development and budget creation.
