Job The Digital Director will lead a best-in-class globally integrated digital program that supports the Center’s efforts to: 1) increase visibility and engagement with its work; 2) build and retain a base of high-quality advocates and donors; 3) deliver big advocacy wins that are tied to the Center’s Strategic Plan objectives and within the Center’s c3 parameters; and 4) reach diverse and new audiences around the world. They will have a big picture, campaign-focused strategy, a deep understanding of the audience journey and audience expansion through social media, email, and must be skilled at rapid response. The Digital Director will design content programming to be measured with a goal of deepening and diversifying audience engagement, engaging partner networks, increasing the Center’s visibility, driving program success in each of the regions where the Center operates, and supporting fundraising efforts. A globally and culturally inclusive approach to content and creative is a must. The Digital Director, reporting to the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the digital department and oversee the social media and email strategy for the organization. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker, strategist, and doer who with their collaborative energy and drive will do what’s best for the organization. Must be a proactive communicator and generator of ideas who can build strategies and plans for long-term projects as well as deliver high-quality work on quick turnaround; a strategic thinker who is up for a challenge. They must be committed to working with the Communications Leadership Team to building an integrated communications capability and department for the Center during a period of significant change and growth. The Digital Director will manage a team of social media and digital content and creative strategists for the organization’s global operations. Must work well in fast-paced, challenging situations with agility and adaptability, exercising editorial instinct and strategic decision making. They will also co-lead the direct response program with their Development Department counterpart in addition to working closely with other members of the Communications team, and Legal Program teams. The hybrid position will be based in the Center’s New York City office.
Primary Responsibilities
Management: Oversight of the day-to-day operations of the digital unit, the management of the Center’s social media and email channels, and the on-staff graphic designer. Build and manage a high-functioning, creative, agile, and responsible team with strong experience in social and digital campaign expertise.
Identify and implement new standard operating procedures for content planning and project management.
Participate in all initial planning meetings led by program, communications, development, or other teams where public engagement may be required.
Facilitate and oversee the launch and management of regional social media accounts, in partnership with regional Communications teams counterparts.
In close coordination with Communications Leadership Team and Program Teams, lead rapid response strategy and communication for social media and email.
Support quarterly Board Meeting Reports.
Serve as a trusted partner to the Communications Leadership Team.
Commitment to developing strong, collaborative working relationship with Communications Leadership Team in order to effectively develop and execute impactful digital strategy.
Demonstrate and model the Center’s work culture pillars of working collaboratively, giving and receiving feedback, and accountability.
Campaigns
Conceive, develop and execute high-results campaigns that raise the Center’s profile, drive awareness and build support for the organization’s global work.
Identify opportunities for mobilization across coalition and partner networks through the use and distribution of groundbreaking creative, toolkits, and sign-ons.
Analyze and report campaign statistics, making recommendations for better use of channels and/or creating new social channels with a meaningful strategy to deepen engagement and drive audience growth.
Partner with Development team stakeholders on direct response fundraising strategy and content.
Partner with program teams to develop online advocacy campaigns that can directly support their work and help to achieve acquisition, awareness, and engagement goals for the organization.
Lead digital partnerships with external groups that have already been recruited to support the Center’s work such as other nonprofits, coalitions, companies, and others.
Strategy
In partnership with members of the Center’s creative team, oversee production of high-quality content across all digital platforms and targeted distribution to drive awareness back to the organization.
Steer the Center’s globally integrated approach to social media content creation and engagement, empowering regional teams to craft standalone messaging, with amplification across the Center’s HQ accounts.
Develop and lead paid digital advertising content and strategies (search and social media ads, video ads, display/banner ads, homepage takeovers, Google AdWords, mobile/SMS engagement, and others). Develop innovative ways to connect with, expand, and diversify the Center’s community of online supporters through paid and organic outreach.
Direct strategy, content, and editorial calendar decisions for social media, email, and digital campaigns – ensuring they are closely aligned and coordinated with website and media strategies.
Conduct online testing, data collection and analytics efforts to assess new resources and technology, develop KPI baselines and benchmarks for success, and maximize results with limited resources. When possible, develop digital analytics reports for program, communications, and executive teams that can directly inform future decision-making around their own work.
Manage and identify ways in which to optimize user experience strategy on new Center for Reproductive Rights website (including, but not limited to SEO, accessibility, conversion).
Influencer Engagement
Leverage social media and email opportunities with elite influencers that drive program and fundraising goals.
Other duties as assigned.
Website User Experience
Identify opportunities for website optimization, partnering with consulting front end developers to roll out new features on the Center’s website as needed, especially to continue building out the new website launched in 2025.
Partner with the Center’s editorial team to concept new landing pages, which showcase the Center’s global mission and impact.
Compensation:
$200,000 annual salary . This salary reflects a position based in New York City or Washington, D.C. This salary will be subject to a downward locality adjustment if authorization is granted to work outside the location listed in this posting. Note that most of the salaries listed on our job postings reflect New York, NY salaries, where our National offices are headquartered.

This position is not covered by the Center's Collective Bargaining Agreement.
