Business Technology Solutions Consultant – Research & Development (R&D) Solution Area
Salary: $202,779 to $205,000 per year
Location: Evanston, IL and various, unanticipated locations throughout the United States.

Job Role and Responsibilities
ZS’s R&D Solution Area focuses on helping clients bring new therapies to market faster and more efficiently by optimizing their research, clinical development, and medical affairs function.
Plan, initiate, and manage medium and large-scale information technology (IT) projects, and provide guidance to technical junior team members, including degreed Business Analysts, Associates, Associate Consultants, Solution Architects, and Project Leads (10%).
Coordinate with Project Leadership to define IT project scope and strategies, requiring ability to understand business issues, select appropriate IT tools and ZS software/functionalities, and develop IT strategies using project management tools (5%).
Provide leadership on multiple IT projects to ensure high-quality deliverables are completed on time and within budget, requiring expertise in front-end user reporting, back-end database management, and/or ETL interfacing technologies (10%).
Lead execution of key assignments, directing communications with clients and team members to understand objectives and technical requirements/features, create deliverables, and communicate findings, requiring ability to understand BI solution designs and implementations (10%).
Manage the design and execution of IT and quantitative and qualitative analyses to understand and address key project issues (10%).
Lead feasibility analysis, select technologies that provide the optimal solution, and identify ZS's proprietary products that best fit the proposed solution (5%).
Leverage experience in project‑management activities, including planning/estimation, scoping/requirements through implementation, and quality assurance within timelines and budgets (10%).
Manage delivery dates, resourcing, and scheduling while identifying and mitigating IT project and client-level risks (5%).
Lead business and strategy‑development meetings to ensure goals and objectives are met (5%).
Conduct team status meetings to coordinate sub‑projects and tasks across technical team members and ensure quality of all deliverables (5%).
Ensure solutions are designed appropriately, taking advantage of existing assets while balancing architecture requirements with specific client needs (5%).
Develop and manage client relationships on multiple projects, and identify opportunities to contribute to selling additional solutions delivery work (5%).
Facilitate collaboration with other team members involved in the Software Development Lifecycle (requirements gathering, testing, rollout and operations) to ensure seamless transitions (5%).
Ensure projects are staffed appropriately and that team members are productively engaged, by evaluating staffing needs, recruiting, interviewing, and hiring technical staff (5%).
Mentor subordinates and provide developmental opportunities, including performance summaries, coaching on project management and professional goals, training on ZS's proprietary software, and guidance on client presentations (5%).
May work in various, unanticipated locations throughout the United States; may require up to 25% domestic travel.
Qualifications
Master's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field and 3 years of experience in the role offered or in a related pharma, life sciences, or healthcare management consulting role.
Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the role offered or in a related pharma, life sciences, or healthcare management consulting role.
