Managing Editor, Brand Newsroom

The Managing Editor will oversee the daily operations of the Brand Newsroom, steering editorial strategy across published channels and coordinating with related teams to amplify Chevron’s communications.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations of the Brand Newsroom, including editorial and publishing calendars.
Lead a team of brand journalists, copy editors, designers, and other content creators; assign stories and develop content ideas with team members.
Set the global content plan and secure alignment across leadership and key stakeholders.
Guide the Brand Newsroom team in planning and developing content.
Partner with Business Unit and Advocacy communications teams to ensure major moments and announcements are supported.
Coordinate across corporate channels, paid, owned, social, media relations, partnership & events, investor relations, and other disciplines to align content calendars.
Apply an agile approach to content development.
Ensure the Newsroom stays on schedule and meets publishing commitments.
Use trendspotting, content insights, analytics to inform overall strategy.
Maintain compliance and substantiation across all Newsroom output.
Contribute hands‑on content creation as needed.
Develop integrated communications strategies that connect business objectives to audience insights, channel planning, messaging, and measurement.
Build integrated content across owned, earned, paid, and shared media; define channel roles and optimize per platform.
Collaborate with editors, creatives, social, paid media, and channel owners to shape story angles, content arcs, and distribution approaches.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience in journalism, digital/media publishing, or newsroom environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
Experience setting editorial strategy at a large publication, website, or company, and leading a team of content creators.
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop writers, developers, and editors in an agile publishing environment.
Strong collaboration skills and consensus building across multidisciplinary teams.
Experience developing digital content and online engagement strategies in bold, innovative ways.
Excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment when crafting stories.
A portfolio that showcases innovation and external communications expertise.
Experience navigating a Fortune 50 organization and working within strict guidelines.
Proficiency in leveraging data and analysis to assess campaign success and inform future improvements.
