School Bus Driver I
The Lompoc Unified School District (CA) is offering a position for a School Bus Driver I with a $7,500 hiring and retention bonus. This recruitment is to establish an eligibility list to fill current and future vacancies over the next 12 months. The application process includes meeting the employment standards outlined in the required qualifications and completing the supplemental questionnaire. Employment standards include: Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and successful completion of bus driver training including valid California Class 'B' Drivers License with 'P' and 'S' endorsement. Licenses and other Requirements: Valid California Class 'B' Driver's License with 'P' and 'S' endorsement. California School Bus Driver Certificate Blood Borne Pathogens. Fire Extinguisher training. First Aid and CPR Certificates. Pre-employment Drug Screening. Pre-employment Physical Exam. Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance. TB Clearance. Examples of duties include: Transporting students safely and efficiently to assigned locations along a designated route. Performing regular safety inspections of buses. Maintaining order and discipline among passengers on the bus. Assessing incidents, complaints, accidents, and potential emergency situations. Maintaining buses in a clean and safe operating condition. Attending meetings, training, and safety meetings. Utilizing two-way radios for bus to bus and bus to base communications. Performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections to monitor fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, and mirrors. Preparing documents and reports including incident and accident reports, inspections records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, route description updates, and maintenance orders. Responding to inquiries including to students, parents, other school personnel; providing information and directions; driving a vehicle to conduct work. Other duties include performing related duties as assigned.
