Overview

Multimedia Designer (Consultant, Experience & Design)
Fearless is seeking Multimedia / Graphic Designers to support a large-scale federal workforce training and learning management program. This role is responsible for creating engaging, accessible, and visually compelling content that enhances training materials and user experiences across a national learning platform.

Role context: The Multimedia / Graphic Designer will work closely with instructional designers, content developers, and program staff to produce visual and multimedia assets that support course development, training delivery, and user engagement. This includes graphics, animations, eLearning assets, and other digital media used within a Learning Management System (LMS). We are looking for individuals who are creative, detail-oriented, and experienced in designing for learning—professionals who understand how visual design supports comprehension, retention, and user experience. The consultant ensures that products and services are intuitive, accessible, and meet the needs of diverse users. The role may span Content Design, Product Design, Service Design, Content Strategy, and User Research at a practical proficiency level. This Consultant role will work on projects that implement evidence-based solutions balancing organizational goals with user needs, while fostering inclusive and sustainable design practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop visual assets to support training materials, including graphics, diagrams, infographics, e-learning modules, dashboards, training collateral; ensure accessibility and branding consistency, and illustrations.
  • Create multimedia content such as animations, videos, and interactive elements for use in eLearning courses and LMS platforms.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers and content developers to align visual design with learning objectives and course structure.
  • Develop and maintain consistent visual styles, templates, and branding across all training materials.
  • Ensure all multimedia and visual content meets accessibility standards, including Section 508 compliance.
  • Support the development of eLearning modules using authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar).
  • Enhance user engagement by applying best practices in visual design, layout, and multimedia storytelling.
  • Edit and refine existing visual and multimedia content to improve clarity, quality, and effectiveness.
  • Prepare graphics and media assets for integration into LMS platforms and web-based applications.
  • Collaborate with technical and program teams to ensure compatibility and performance of multimedia assets.
  • Maintain organized libraries of design assets, templates, and media files.
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices in multimedia and instructional design.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in multimedia design, graphic design, or related roles supporting digital products or training programs.
  • Proven experience creating visual and multimedia content for eLearning, training programs, or web-based platforms.
  • Experience using design and multimedia tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro) or similar.
  • Experience with eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and integration of multimedia assets into training platforms is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of visual design principles, layout, typography, and color theory.
  • Experience designing for accessibility, including Section 508 compliance, is preferred.
  • Ability to translate instructional content into engaging visual formats that support learning outcomes.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple design tasks and deadlines.
  • Experience working in Agile or collaborative team environments is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to incorporate feedback from stakeholders and team members.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Visual Communications, or related field is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings, which may involve driving or flying.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).

Compensation

The salary range for this role is:

  • Minimum Salary: $77,326
  • Salary Midpoint: $100,524
  • Maximum Salary: $125,655
  • Hiring Range for Role: $77,326 - $88,000
  • This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance criteria.
