Mainframe Technology Leader
to oversee and evolve its z/OS environment. This role combines
hands-on technical depth
with
strategic leadership , ensuring stability, modernization, and long-term scalability of critical systems.
Key Responsibilities Lead and manage enterprise
z/OS mainframe operations and engineering teams Define and execute
mainframe strategy, modernization, and roadmap Oversee system performance, reliability, security, and capacity planning Drive
integration with modern platforms
(APIs, DevOps, hybrid/cloud) Partner with business and IT leadership to align technology with goals Manage vendors, third-party tools, and infrastructure lifecycle Lead incident resolution, continuous improvement, and risk management Mentor teams and support
knowledge transfer / succession planning Required Experience
10+ years in
mainframe (z/OS) engineering / administration Strong expertise in:
z/OS, JCL, REXX, COBOL CICS, MQ, DB2 TCP/IP, VTAM RACF (security)
Experience with system tools (SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, RMF/SMF, z/OSMF) Proven leadership managing technical teams and complex environments Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and system optimization skills Preferred
Mainframe modernization (APIs, zCX, DevOps pipelines) Hybrid / distributed system integration experience Vendor management (IBM and ISVs) Disaster recovery and large-scale infrastructure planning What Success Looks Like
