This Opportunity
Our team is seeking a full-time energetic and responsive Lead I&C Designer for our multidisciplinary Process Infrastructure and Design team based in Phoenix, AZ. The following locations will also be considered: Salt Lake City, UT. The team you will join will offer interesting diversity of global clients and projects in Environmental Infrastructure facilities such as industrial facilities, water and wastewater industries, landfills and contaminated soil sites, as well as, Oil & Gas, surface and underground mining infrastructure.
In this role you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and technologists on multiple projects for a range of public and private sector clients in North America. This is suitable for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment. Experience with Navisworks and Autodesk is a requirement. Proficiency in 3D modeling using REVIT and/or Autodesk is a requirement

Your Impact
Effectively execute electrical engineering designs from concept to completion with a high level of competence and minimal oversight.
The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and coordinating electrical models and electronic documents on both large and small-scale projects
Effectively convey electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural requirements to the team through traditional 2D and 3D models/deliverables
Work independently and collaborate in cross-discipline team to meet project goals.
Fundamental knowledge and understanding of electrical codes and industry standards such as IEEE, ANSI, NFPA, and NEC
Prepare detailed design documents such as single line diagrams, panel schedules, Motor schematics and wiring diagrams, equipment and e-house layouts, lighting, grounding cable and conduit drawings, general arrangements.
Perform sizing calculations for major electrical equipment, lighting, heat tracing, conduit and cable
Perform 3D model clash detection and coordinate electrical design with other disciplines.
Perform complex plant layout and electrical systems using 3D design modeling tools.
Be responsible for electrical design work related to quantity estimation effort on project or program including direct quantity (MTO) take-off from a 3D model, 2D drawings, sketches and historical data.
Able to work under and meet tight deadlines
Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions
Build and maintain libraries of symbols and families for AutoCAD and REVIT
Promote engineering professionalism and maintain positive relationships internally and externally.
Provide guidance and training to entry-level drafting and design support staff.
Remain current in latest drafting and design support knowledge, techniques, and practices.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
11+ years of relevant experience.
Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D Auto CAD and Microstation.
Expertise in lighting design tool such as DIALux, Agi32
Strong proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and/or Plant3D.
Sound design and 3D modeling skills for Industrial/Mining plant layout, electrical design and detailing.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with the team.
Excellent computer skills such as MS Word, Excel and Projects.
Demonstrate advanced ability to work with others in supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary.
Typical office environment, working with computers and drawings for extended periods of time on a regular basis
Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non‑technical audience.
Highly proficient self‑leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
Competent critical thinking and problem‑solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from data collation, calculations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective and logical solution.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in closely related discipline is preferred.
Essential professional licensure/certification.
