Job Summary/Basic Function
WSU Marketing & Communications is seeking a motivated, well-organized individual to lead the web content strategy for weber.edu. This position will lead web revision/redesign projects for clients across the university from concept to completion, as well as supervise a small web team.
Position would include:
Prioritizing web projects and managing the process of planning, creating, and organizing content, and coordinating design/development.
Working independently or with web developers to build or update websites or pages.
Creating new features to engage prospective and current students.
Helping to establish best practices and policies that uphold university branding and website standards, such as accessibility requirements.
Using web analytics and testing to understand and help improve user experience.
Other writing/editing duties within Marketing & Communications.
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in communication, English, journalism, electronic media or related field of study.
Two (2) years experience in web content, online journalism or professional social media roles.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications Professional experience in web content planning, creation, and strategy.
Experience using a content management system or other web development tools.
Strong writing skills, including writing for a variety of audiences.
News reporting and/or information-gathering skills.
Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to contribute to a team effort.
Editing skills, including excellent understanding of grammar, punctuation, and information organization.
Working knowledge of user experience principles and accessibility standards (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines).
Experience with web analytics to understand and improve user experience.
Familiarity with web coding languages like HTML and CSS.
Social media account management (i.e. Facebook, X, YouTube, Instagram, etc.).
Knowledge of The Associated Press Stylebook.
