JOB SUMMARY:
The role of the Southern Seminary Press Proofreader & Editor is to ensure grammatical accuracy for all Southern Seminary Press books.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The employee in this position will assist with telling the story of Boyce College and Southern Seminary through:
Thorough Grammar Check: Carefully scrutinize written content to detect and rectify grammatical mistakes including subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, pronoun usage, and sentence structure.
Punctuation Accuracy: Verify proper use of punctuation marks like commas, semicolons, apostrophes, and quotation marks.
Spelling Verification: Check for spelling errors and ensure consistent word usage.
Style Guide Adherence: Apply established style guides to maintain consistency in formatting, capitalization, and abbreviation usage.
Readability Enhancement: Review text for clarity and flow, suggesting improvements to sentence structure and word choice where necessary.
Fact-Checking (as needed): May verify factual accuracy of information within the content.
EDUCATION:
The person in this position should be proficient in rules of English grammar.
EXPERIENCE:
The person in this position should have zero to two years of experience as a proofreader or editor.
SUPERVISION:
The person in this position will supervise no one.
The person in this position will report to the Vice President of Communications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The person in this position will work in a traditional office environment.
