Job Description
NBC Connecticut is looking for a Sports Multi‑Media Journalist and Anchor to collaborate with our team of exceptional journalists to showcase engaging stories from around the state.
In this role you will gather daily content, shoot, edit, write, produce, and report on all of NBC Connecticut’s platforms, covering UConn sports and the WNBA, and serving as the anchor for the sportscast.

Take charge of big headlines with innovative storytelling
Pitch enterprise and lead sports stories for all platforms
Tell stories that impact everyday people in Connecticut
Generate content for the station’s website and social media sites
Build relationships with community leaders
Participate in station‑sponsored events and other special projects
Develop within the NBC Owned Stations group
What We’re Looking For
Play an active role in the editorial process
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Skilled sports shooter with proven expertise in capturing both highlights and “off the court” moments for feature stories
Strategic thinking, research, and organizational skills
Excellent time‑management skills; prioritise assignments to meet deadlines
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
At least one year of related work experience in local and community news/sports stories
Experience with broadcast cameras and editing on Adobe Premiere
Eligibility Requirements
Must be 18 years or older
Must be willing to work at the station in West Hartford, CT
Must be able to work any of a 24x7 shift, including flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and overnight with short notice
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
This position is a SAG‑AFTRA represented job; successful candidates will be required to join the AFTRA Union upon employment if not already a member
Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
Required On‑Site: This position must be performed full‑time from an NBCUniversal‑designated worksite
Desired Characteristics
Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or Communications
Knowledge of college and professional sports a plus
Knowledge and understanding of various media platforms
Technical proficiency: expertise in video editing software, graphic design tools, and web publishing platforms
A focus on keeping up to date on news and current events in Connecticut
Pioneering spirit with a desire and urgency to learn about emerging technologies and invent the future
Ability to solve problems, prioritise decisions, and act decisively under deadlines
Excellent writing and strong speech skills
