As a Technical Sales Engineer you will be a key technical resource supporting two of Digi's core Business Units across the EMEA region: Cellular Solutions

- 4G LTE and 5G cellular routers and extenders for enterprise, industrial, and transportation applications. https://www.digi.com/products

etworking/infrastructure-management You will work closely with the Sales Team to close new business opportunities, support existing customers with technical and application challenges, and act as a hands‑on technical champion throughout the sales cycle. A significant part of this role involves building proof‑of‑concept (PoC) applications — including AI‑powered solutions — to demonstrate the value of Digi's products in real‑world customer scenarios. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

Understand customer business and application requirements; provide pre‑sales technical and design support with prospective customers and partners over the phone, via email, and in person Design and develop proof‑of‑concept applications to demonstrate product capabilities, with a particular focus on leveraging AI and edge computing to solve customer problems Build and deploy containerised applications on Digi devices using the Digi Remote Manager and LXC to showcase edge compute scenarios Act as liaison between the Sales Team and Engineering, Technical Support, Product Marketing, and Product Management Provide customer training programmes and technical sales presentations as required Set up, test, and replicate customer hardware, software, networking, and application issues in a lab environment Develop and maintain strong technical relationships with customer and partner contacts Assist in driving revenue across both Business Units Requirements

Engineering Bachelor's degree in a technology discipline, or 4-6 years of equivalent relevant experience Solid, hands‑on Linux skills — the majority of Digi's product portfolio runs on Linux (Digi Accelerated Linux / DAL OS), making this a core day‑to‑day requirement Strong knowledge of networking LAN/WAN principles, topologies, and protocols Practical experience with cellular connectivity (4G LTE and 5G), including concepts such as SIM management, signal diagnostics, carrier failover, and WAN bonding Familiarity with serial protocols (RS-232/485, Modbus or similar) relevant to industrial and infrastructure environments Experience developing or scripting applications — Python, shell scripting, or similar — including the ability to build proof‑of‑concept solutions to support the sales process Understanding of containerisation technologies (Docker, LXC, or equivalent) and experience deploying containerised workloads at the edge Strong communication and presentation skills in both English and German Valid driving licence and willingness to travel across the EMEA region Beneficial

CCNA, CCNP, or other relevant industry networking qualifications Experience with IoT device management platforms Knowledge of USB over IP, console server management, or out‑of‑band network management Familiarity with industrial automation protocols and environments (SCADA, RTU etc.) Experience with Wi‑Fi technologies and deployment Understanding of the solution sales approach and how all components of a connected solution fit together About the Products You Will Work With
