The Director of Regional Operations provides day-to-day operational support, enabling client facing leadership and staff to focus on their primary purposes of client service, business development and staff development. This role works effectively with leadership as a change agent to drive value, growth, and profitability by supporting the RL and partnering with business leaders to develop, execute and promote business strategy that aligns with the overall goals of CBIZ Financial Services. The Director of Regional Operations serves as an advisor providing guidance and recommendations surrounding operational objectives of the region. This position reports to the National FS Operations Leader and works closely with their respective Regional Leader (RL) and regional leadership team.

Primary Duties

Partners with national and regional leadership to oversee execution of financial and operational priorities including but not limited to: Budgets and forecasts, Monthly financials, KPIs and metrics, Client onboarding, Account planning process, Compliance with SOX requirements, etc.

Provides day-to-day operational support to enable client-facing leadership and staff to focus on delivery, business development, and team development.

Collaborates with the CoE and national teams to provide input on process improvements, reporting needs, and staffing strategies.

Engages regional leadership to understand the strategy, initiatives and related goals that have been set and to establish controls to monitor progress on these goals.

Supports regional execution of national strategies and enables implementation of solutions tied to process improvement, automation, and technology adoption.

Aligns regional operations across functions such as Tax, Attest, HR, IT, Marketing, and Finance to ensure coordination and consistency.

Collaborates with regional leadership and HR related to forecasting and fulfillment of staffing needs to include recruiting, offshoring and outsourcing.

Participates in due diligence and integration activities for acquisitions, as needed.

Reports to the National FS Operations Leader with a dotted line to the Regional Leader.

Essential Functions

Participates as key stakeholder on region executive team to drive priorities, communication and initiatives that affect the region and which drive growth, profitability, efficiency, and operational effectiveness.

Partners with national and regional leadership to provide process oversight of key financial activities and drivers including budgets and forecasts, monthly financials, KPIs and metrics, client onboarding, account planning process, billing and collections, write downs and reserves, expense control and compliance with SOX requirements.

Drives and/or enables solutions to drive process standardization and automation; enables implementation on technology/AI solutions.

Designs and implements administrative support teams, processes and systems, including staffing requirements, and directs the workflow of the administrative staff ensuring effective delivery of services.

Participates in national working groups with peers related to process improvements, standard practices and new policies, processes, systems and initiatives.

Partners with regional HR leaders to drive goal setting, feedback process, review processes and other performance management activities.

Liaises with Legal and Risk Management as needed.

Serves as Project Manager for and/or owner of key initiatives determined by business unit or national leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of experience within a Public Accounting firm or Professional Services Firm

Experience with managing a diverse team in terms of experience, education, and life‑experience

Demonstrated understanding of business principles such as finance, marketing and strategy using this knowledge to make decisions that benefit CBIZ

Ability to successfully work under pressure and handle multiple high‑priority matters

Possesses both strategic thinking capability and “hands‑on” operational implementation experience

Demonstrated ability in influence without authority, negotiation, conflict and problem resolution

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required

Minimum of 5 years of managing sophisticated client service staff

Ability to develop and implement operating plans aligned with budget

Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally

Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
