Summary When a top producing Branch Manager or Retail Loan Officer achieves a production level that exceeds the time and effort available from one individual, the Business Development Associate supports the loan origination team by maintaining a strong client referral base, selling the firm’s loan products and services to realtors, builders, home buyers, CPAs, financial planners and others. The Associate enhances team production through professional persistence.
Knowledge, Experience And Skills Required
Education: Minimum of a high school diploma required. College Degree in Business or Finance preferred, but not required.
Experience: Minimum 1+ years of loan originator or loan officer assistant experience, or strong sales experience with demonstrated potential to transfer skills to mortgage origination. Minimum 1+ year of marketing experience in a sales environment. Experience supporting a manager on a day‑to‑day basis or as an executive assistant.
Skills: Detail oriented with strong follow‑up skills; interpersonal skills that forge professional relationships; strong oral, verbal and written communication; ability to generate independent leads for new business; knowledge of loan products such as FHA/VA, FHLMC, FNMA, JUMBO and all other area, city, state, county and national loan programs; strong social‑media marketing skills.
Systems: Experience using Empower Loan Management Software preferred but training provided. Other systems/platforms such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, DocuSign and social media.
Training Required Participate in additional training on sales, technology, products, procedures and pricing on an ongoing basis. Complete annual training as required by company policy and law in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
Establish, develop and maintain client referral relationships with realtors, builders, developers, CPAs and financial planners. Make sales calls to develop new business and retain existing business.
Manage marketing on social media for assigned Loan Officer or Branch Manager.
Receive incoming business from the assigned Loan Officer or Branch Manager and address it appropriately on behalf of the manager.
Keep informed of trends, changes and developments in the local real estate market and competitor activity.
Keep up‑to‑date with rules, regulations and guidelines from FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA and other investors and agencies.
Maintain a professional image and standards consistent with company policies and procedures.
Coordinate customer interaction and interface with all parties involved on each loan from application to closing, including counseling and pre‑qualifying potential home buyers, taking loan applications, obtaining necessary documents and fees, monitoring loan status, communicating status to parties, and obtaining documentation after closing.
Negotiate price, terms and conditions for mortgages.
Attend and participate in monthly award ceremonies, corporate gatherings and training events. Read newsletters and bulletins to stay current on corporate policies, procedures, and developments.
Participate in branch or headquarter meetings when required.
Other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager or assigned Retail Loan Officer.
Driver Eligibility Guidelines This position requires reliable transportation. Drivers must have a valid driver's license in the state of residence, at least 2 years of driving experience, and be at least 18 years old. The company reserves the right to enforce additional driver eligibility guidelines as required by law.

Develop and manage a pipeline of users, referrals, and client relationships.
Increase customer base via marketing tactics.
Effect relationship management and business development.
Maintain customer satisfaction.
Originating loans for personal and team production.
Work Environment and Demands Office and a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office is mandatory.
Possible hazards: minimal. Physical demands: light.
