Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and Wednesday. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

CAI seeks to inform, educate and enlighten our audience on both the news of the day and the news in historical context through in-depth, high quality journalism using the best tools and methods of the craft. The Cape and Islands NPR Stations WCAI, WNAN and WZAI are WGBH's NPR Stations based in Woods Hole on Cape Cod. These radio stations broadcast news and information programs from NPR, PRI, the BBC as well as award winning locally produced content. JOB OVERVIEW
Production is currently seeking a Production Assistant. In this position, you will have the opportunity to be an integral part of the production of the program. We’re looking for someone that has worked on a television program and knows their way around television production from start to finish. If you have worked on a live television broadcast program that is a plus. You’ll research topics and stories that impact communities of color and have the opportunity to book/find potential guests and experts from the Greater Boston area and beyond who can bring those topics and stories to a weekly live television program that is also streamed live on the web. RESPONSIBILITIES
Editorial/Research (40%): Ability to research stories and topics that can be used for potential upcoming shows; help identify and secure potential guests; ability to gather research for the host in advance to prepare for the program. Production (25%): Search, find and log video or stills that could enhance weekly program topic; prepare lower-third credits. Social Media/Digital (15%): Social media/digital savvy. Must possess the ability to post interesting elements onto the show’s social media, assist with digital live streaming as well as upload the show onto the show Facebook page and website. Craft service (10%): Manage and coordinate craft service for weekly guests including logistics, stocking up and ordering supplies. General Administrative (10%): Schedule and manage makeup for talent and guests; organizational skills; coordination of talent and guests; input show data into PIM system. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
3-4 years of relevant experience. At least one year working on a commercial/public television broadcast program, preferably live television. Professional demeanor, responsible, mature and adaptable to changing situations, along with the ability to work with multiple internal departments. Editorial experience; comfortable and curious about looking for stories and topics related to communities of color. Ability to write, copy-edit and proofread work for spelling and grammar. Strong news judgment. Possess an understanding of topics and what’s going on in the news. Must be comfortable with working autonomously for periods of time and/or with a group. Familiar with the production process of producing a show for air; logging tapes, possess a keen eye for interesting video and shots to incorporate into the program. Able to work with and communicate with production team; creating and organizing shoots. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Some experience going out with a crew, doing mos’s, gathering b-roll and possibility doing interviews. Strong detail orientation skills. Ability to manage workload effectively. Proven experience in problem-solving and critical thinking practices within a culturally-diverse working environment. Self-motivated. Ability to see other people’s points of view and welcome constructive feedback. Willingness to stay late on occasion or as necessary. Proficient in Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and editing software. Any experience with broadcast systems such as INews is a plus. EDUCATION
