Job Title: Director of Finance/Senior Controller
Executive Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Location: Tampa, Florida or Mobile, Alabama

Overview The Director of Finance/Senior Controller will lead the firm’s accounting, finance, treasury and budgeting efforts. As a key member of the executive team, the candidate will work closely with the CEO and Partner to participate in and support pivotal decisions related to strategic initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of financial reporting: corporate and operational planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, treasury, vendors, governance, and insurance as well as overseeing cash flow projections, budgets, and analysis with a focus on accurate and timely tax reporting. The candidate will also be responsible for reviewing and approving GAAP reporting on our flagship proprietary equity funds and managing the tax and audit responsibilities of that fund.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee organizational budgeting, accounting, and cash management to ensure accurate reporting, interpretation, and analysis of financial results.
Manage processes surrounding the accuracy, timeliness, and delivery of property level tax reporting.
Supervise the preparation of the monthly and annual corporate consolidated financial statements and tax returns.
Review property financials and tax returns prepared by third party property management firms.
Establish and maintain controls to safeguard assets; document and recommend improvements to internal financial policies and procedures.
Manage and monitor the organization's cash flow and capital needs.
Supervise the accounting staff on daily operations, including but not limited to, month and year end closes, accounts receivable & payable, financial reports, intercompany reconciliations, payroll, invoicing, cash receipts and disbursements.
Maintain corporate liability and insurance policies.
In conjunction with the asset management group, ensure that equity draws, project cost reports and other reporting to investors are completed accurately and timely.
Education and Experience Required
At least five years of demonstrated finance and accounting experience, with at least three years' experience as Director of Finance, Senior Controller, or similar.
CPA preferred.
Knowledge and experience with real estate accounting and finance required with experience in multifamily housing a plus.
Demonstrated experience with accounting systems (Netsuite, Juniper Square, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to prepare clear, accurate, well-organized written and financial reports and to communicate verbally in an effective and concise manner.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, accounting software programs with YARDI preferable, and network administration.
