Overview

Supersure is a modern insurance agency scaling nationally through strong carrier partnerships, disciplined operations, and technology enabled execution. With a solid operational foundation already in place, the Director of Market Development – Commercial P&C will take ownership of maturing and expanding how Supersure grows its commercial carrier and wholesale relationships.

This is a

strategic leadership role . You will inherit an established carrier relations function and take it to the next level – deepening existing partnerships, expanding into new markets, refining carrier economics and performance management, strengthening wholesale and E&S channel strategy, and delivering market intelligence that sharpens Supersure’s sales and placement teams. You will also manage and develop the Market Development Manager as the function matures.

The ideal candidate combines deep insurance distribution knowledge with strategic thinking and relationship building instincts. You’ve worked inside or alongside carriers, MGAs, or wholesale brokers and understand what drives appetite, capacity, and partnership quality. Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary:

$160k–$180k (depending on experience)

What You’ll Do

Own and lead Supersure’s commercial carrier and distribution strategy end to end, including carrier identification, prioritization, outreach, and appointment acquisition.

Build and manage the carrier appointment pipeline, developing a systematic approach to securing appointments with target admitted carriers, wholesale brokers, MGAs, and MGUs.

Develop and execute the wholesale and E&S channel strategy, ensuring Supersure has the right relationships and access points for hard to place, specialty, and complex commercial risks.

Partner cross functionally with the Directors of Account Management, Placement Specialists, and Sales leadership to ensure carrier strategy translates into execution, including clean submissions, preferred workflows, and leveraging relationships for better outcomes on accounts.

Manage and develop the Market Development Manager, setting priorities, coaching performance, and ensuring day to day carrier coordination and operational tasks are executed with consistency and quality.

Mature and expand the carrier relations function: refine existing playbooks, workflows, tracking systems, and reporting cadences, and develop new ones as the business grows into additional markets and segments.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in insurance distribution, carrier relations, wholesale brokerage, MGA/MGU operations, or agency carrier management within commercial property & casualty.

Deep understanding of how carrier appointments work, including the economics, appetite considerations, volume expectations, and relationship dynamics that drive successful partnerships.

Demonstrated experience building or materially growing carrier relationships, including securing new appointments and expanding existing partnerships.

Strong working knowledge of commercial P&C markets, including admitted, E&S, wholesale, and specialty channels, and how they interact in a brokerage or agency environment.

Experience managing carrier performance, including tracking production, profitability, and identifying opportunities to deepen or redirect business.

People leadership experience, including managing at least one direct report in a production or relationship management capacity.

Ability to operate effectively with incomplete structure, building clarity, process, and accountability where the function is still being defined.

Familiar with artificial intelligence platforms such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Microsoft Copilot, consistently leveraging these types of tools to analyze data, streamline workflows, and communicate insights effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience on the carrier side, wholesale brokerage side, or MGA/MGU side, with a deep network of market relationships that can accelerate Supersure’s appointment strategy.

Background helping launch, rebuild, or rapidly scale an agency’s carrier relationships or distribution footprint.

Experience designing or managing contingency and bonus programs, and using carrier incentive structures to drive strategic business decisions.

Passion for exploring and implementing AI technologies to automate routine tasks, improve decision making accuracy, and elevate the quality of carrier and market analysis.

Experience with end to end agency workflows and a continuous improvement mindset, consistently identifying opportunities to reduce friction and elevate outcomes.

Industry designations such as CIC, CPCU, or equivalent.

Active Property & Casualty insurance license.

Based in Miami, FL or Dallas, TX area and able to work in-office (downtown Miami,FL or Plano, TX).
