About the Position
Join the team that develops, implements, communicates, and facilitates a comprehensive internal communication strategy for the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT). The Communications Officer is responsible for assisting management in implementing strategic initiatives that improve people’s lives and for providing adult learning services while managing internal meetings and events.

We Require
One year of public relations or internal communication experience, including learning/training, employee engagement activity, employee event planning, employee career development, or related experience
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Administration, Education, or a related field
A combination of post‑secondary education and/or job‑related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year‑for‑year basis
Other Requirements Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver’s license by the time of hire.

Two years of experience in event management
Two years of advanced experience using Articulate and/or Vyond and/or Storyline
Job Contributions
Oversee the preparation, design, and delivery of specialized and continuing education training programs in a specific area of instruction or compliance
Develop materials, prepare, and implement programs for various professional development and partnering support activities
Develop, organize, and coordinate programs designed to advise and assist management in the implementation of strategic initiatives, organizational goals, and engagement activities
Perform programmatic needs assessments to meet established priorities and ensure desired goals are executed
Develop, establish, and maintain report/metric requirements designed to self‑audit programs’ effectiveness
Develop evaluation instruments to measure the effectiveness of programs and make recommendations
Maintain contact with County stakeholders to meet department goals by administering comprehensive internal communication and partnering initiatives
Confer with and represent the department and the County in meetings with staff from other departments, representatives of governmental, business, professional, and public agencies
Contribute to the unit’s services efficiency and effectiveness by offering suggestions and participating as a thought leader and active member of a work team
Obtain equipment, space, and other resources necessary to execute the branch’s strategy
Working Conditions
Exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, or negligible amounts constantly, or requires walking or standing to a significant degree
Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration
Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software, and Hardware Personal Computer (laptop/tablet); mobile phone; dual monitors; Microsoft Office Suite applications, including extensive work in Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint; Articulate 360; Vyond; Storyline; Presentation Equipment (A/V).
Protective Equipment Required Hard hats, boots, vests, and safety glasses are required when visiting construction job sites.
