
Business Development Specialist- Sales & Marketing

Clear Packaging Laboratories is looking for a Business Development Specialist to join our Sales & Marketing team!
The Business Development Specialist will serve as the primary engine for our growth. This role is a unique blend of high-level "hunting" and precise sales operations, designed to spearhead expansion into new markets while utilizing data-driven insights to deepen existing relationships. This role is responsible for identifying new opportunities, but also for building the analytical foundation and operational processes that allow our sales team to scale effectively.
Primary Responsibilities
Identify and secure new enterprise-level opportunities across CPG, Retail, E-Commerce, and Foodservice sectors.
Drive loss-account recovery efforts to re-establish business relationships with previous clients.
Convert marketing-generated leads, including those from Google Ads and website inquiries, into active sales conversations.
Responsible for Sales Analytics and Reporting, providing detailed insights to leadership on sales performance and testing trends.
Conduct market research to identify growth opportunities and build targeted prospect lists.
Provide vital CRM and Database support to ensure customer information and quoting activity are optimized and current.
Perform technical needs assessments to understand a prospect's specific testing, quality, and service gaps.
Collaborate with internal technical teams to pitch customized solutions that highlight our unique lab capabilities.
Draft and present compelling proposals for multi-year service agreements and complex projects.
Skills and Abilities Required
Proficiency with CRM, Marketing, and Sales Analytics systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create dynamic spreadsheets, pivot tables, and data visualizations.
Proven ability to manage a complex sales cycle and multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to problem solve, recognize, and lend assistance when needed.
Ability to build strong internal and external business relationships.
Willingness to travel to customer locations as required.
Experience/Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
2-5 years of sales experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with testing labroatories or related technical service providers.
High-level knowledge of ASTM, ISTA, TAPPI, and other relevant packaging standards.
Location: This is an onsite position in Cincinnati, Ohio. Hybrid work options available after 6-months of employment.
