Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which modernizes the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Bechtel\'s scope of service in Sentinel\'s current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program. This position, located in Ogden, UT, is for a SmartPlant 3D Designer who will prepare electrical 3D designs as well as 2D electrical AutoCAD and SmartSketch designs to support new facility infrastructure design for DOD and USAF projects. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.
#LI-HB1 Major Responsibilities
Modeling of electrical rooms, equipment, cable tray, conduit, conduit duct bank, lighting, receptacles, etc. in a Smartplant 3D model environment. Creating bill of materials and drawing installation details for the modeled items listed above in addition to grounding, lightning protection, support details, and other details using SmartSketch and AutoCAD. Performing calculations utilizing AGI 32 for lighting layouts and ETAP for ground grid layouts. Assist with coordination of 3D model activities, input, interference reconciliation, etc. with other physical related disciplines. Support production for physical design implementation by producing drawings of interior and exterior layouts/plans/elevation views of the raceway design (conduit/cable tray/duct bank), equipment location and layout, lighting layouts, lighting protection layouts, and grounding plans. Develop material specifications utilizing the software SpecsIntact. Coordinate with Systems engineering department to establish and verify design/project requirements. Capable of independent creative design, with direction, using Bechtel and industry-proven concepts, and procedures. Ensures electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards. Education and Experience Requirements
Requires an AA/AS or Certificate of Engineering/CAD with 1-2 years of experience or 4-5 years of relevant work experience. Required Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge & application of NEC code and NEMA/ANSI/IEEE Standards. Must have experience with an electronic Cable Management System, such as the SETROUTE program, and be able to input and complete corrections to the database. Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines. Ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks. Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings for Electrical systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building Electrical systems. Hands-on and advanced experience using Smartplant 3D, SmartSketch, and AutoCAD. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively. Broad knowledge of the application of Electrical engineering design principles. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics and layouts. Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards. Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications. Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally. Ability to resolve design issues independently and collaboratively with other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client. Modeling of piping, HVAC, and Mechanical equipment in a Smartplant 3D model environment. Previous DoD/DoE, USACE, NAVFAC, USAF, or NASA project experience.
