JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an

Ophthalmic Assistant

to assist an Eye Center physician and other technical support personnel in performing diagnostic tests necessary for evaluating patient eye problems, under close supervision.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform preliminary screening examinations for physician review, including visual field tests, color vision tests, tonometry, and pupil testing prior to dilation.

Examine the cornea, lens, and anterior chamber using a slit lamp, noting variations from normal.

Measure acuity for distance and near vision, obtain optical measurements, and record findings; administer Electro-Retinogram and Electro-Oculogram tests.

Obtain medical and personal data for patient charts.

Assist the physician in fitting contact lenses.

Calibrate and maintain all instruments, clean and stock consultation rooms and laboratories, and perform related duties as needed.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

High school education or equivalent.

At least 1 year of related experience in Ophthalmology or Optometry.
