Marketing Content Specialist (Copywriter)
Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Content Specialist (Copywriter) will serve as the primary researcher, author, and editor for a wide variety of print and communications projects across the institution. The Copywriter will create clear and compelling copy for a variety of audiences, while ensuring adherence to the brand message. In addition to creating content, the specialist will proofread and edit content to ensure it is error-free. These include news stories covering timely and impactful topics across the school including clinic updates, student success stories, alumni profiles and faculty profiles. We are looking for a Copywriter that has the analytics experience, mainly writing content for various platforms. socials, web, newsletters, emails, and speeches. In addition to preparing communications and marketing content, the role will use superlative research and collaboration skills to create internal documents in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders. These include briefings for the dean on industry topics, policy memos, proposals for new programs, and other topics as assigned. Primary Responsibilities
Develop and write compelling, SEO-optimized content for the law school's website, ensuring it stays up-to-date and aligned with marketing objectives. Focused on optimizing for keywords related to law school services and to attract search traffic from prospective students. Following the content calendar, regularly update the website with new content. Write longer form web stories including clinic updates, student and alumni success stories, and faculty profiles. Manage all executive communications including the dean's remarks for conferences, symposia, awards, graduations, and other special events as needed. Social Media Management
Develop and create a variety of high-quality, original, and engaging content for various platforms, such as websites, social media, email campaigns, and other marketing materials. Assist Chief Marketing Officer in implementing California Western's communications strategy by researching, drafting, and revising print and digital pieces. Oversee all admissions marketing content including email copy, and viewbooks. Work with internal stakeholders to write and produce needed collateral marketing materials. Partner with Advancement on all writing needs including the impact report, alumni newsletters, fundraising appeals, and stewardship communications, as well as grant proposals. Create clear and compelling copy for a variety of audiences, while ensuring adherence to the brand message. Ensure all content is optimized for search engines and follows best content creation and distribution practices. Maintain a consistent tone, voice, and style across all content, adhering to institutional guidelines. Proofread and edit content to ensure it is error-free, grammatically correct, and meets quality standards. Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and best practices to ensure content remains relevant and impactful. Research
Conduct extensive research to gather information and create informative and educational content that meets the needs and interests of target audiences. Research and write institutional and decanal emails on important holidays and events such as MLK Jr. Day, Cesar Chavez Day, and Pride Month Research and draft briefs for the dean on important industry trends including rankings, financial aid, career development, and programmatic developments. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to research, synthesize and/or draft policies and proposals, including new academic programs. Participate in department meetings and other committees, groups, and task forces as assigned. Work with appropriate level of assistance, instruction and supervision. Proactively advise the CMO of project status, potential issues, and overall project progress. Perform, with team approach, other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferably media, communication, marketing, journalism, or related field. Three (3) years' of progressive experience in high pace deadline driven content creation role (with a focus on writing), required. Three (3) years' experience monitoring KPIs for all marketing activities and proven track record improving optimization. An Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must be able to effectively multitask and handle a variety of matters independently, with minimal supervision, in a professional, polished, and mature manner with tact, diplomacy, and appropriate judgment. Individuals must possess a strong ability to create and implement assignments utilizing both external vendors and internal resources. Individuals must demonstrate the ability to make data-driven or evidence-based decisions and keep abreast emerging marketing trends. Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy is crucial. Experience with managing projects with outside vendors preferred. Compensation
$70,000.00 - $75,000.00 Annual Salary Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for this role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The higher end of the range will be considered for well qualified candidates. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the law school reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the law school anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity and budget. Benefits
