Job Title: Community Development Specialist
Program: Prevention First
Location: Office 40 Christopher Way, Eatontown, New Jersey 07724
Position Type: Full Time 35 hours
Salary: $45,000.00
Job Description/Summary
The
Community Development Specialist
plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the regional substance use prevention coalition in
Monmouth County . This position is responsible for facilitating community engagement, coordinating prevention initiatives, and supporting the operational needs of the coalition.
Working closely with the
Regional Coordinator or Director , the Community Development Specialist assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of coalition activities. This includes facilitating task forces, organizing public awareness campaigns, and delivering prevention education programming across the region.
The CDS must have and maintain a valid Driver’s license and a legally licensed vehicle with insurance for driving to and from programs and events.
Responsibilities This role requires strong communication, organizational, and facilitation skills, along with a passion for community health and substance use prevention. The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, and committed to making a positive difference in Monmouth County.
Competencies The CDS must present leadership qualities including: nurturing established relationships and building new ones; collaborating with others, able to inspire others to act on causes, able to see diversity in all its forms, well organized and able to take initiative.
Qualifications
Education - BA/BS and/or three to five years related experience and/or training; Desired, but not necessary: Certified Prevention Specialist credential, teaching certificate and/or social work
License - Valid NJ Driver's License in good standing
Additional Responsibilities
Facilitating task force meetings
and supporting coalition workgroups to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
Assisting with program logistics , including placing program orders and managing supplies.
Providing technical support
for virtual and in-person meetings, presentations, and events.
Organizing and implementing public awareness campaigns
focused on substance use prevention and community wellness.
Delivering evidence-based prevention education
to schools, youth groups, and community organizations.
Conducting community outreach
to build partnerships and increase coalition visibility.
Attending community meetings and events
to represent the coalition and gather insights on local needs.
Preparing reports and documentation
to track progress, outcomes, and community impact.
