Job Title: Resident Recruitment & Retention Intern
Reports To: Assistant Director of Residence Life & Assistant Director of Marketing & Leasing
Location: The Summit at Queens College, Flushing, NY
Compensation: $17.00 per hour & on-site furnished housing
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Anticipated Start/End Date: June 1st, 2026 – August 15th, 2026
Capstone On-Campus Management (COCM), with headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama, is a group of student housing professionals focused exclusively on the management of housing communities owned by non-profits and/or highly affiliated with a university.
Summary Queens College is one of the senior colleges in the City University of New York system. The Summit houses approximately 500 students in a 5‑story suite‑style residence hall on the campus. Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Residence Life, the Intern will directly contribute to the marketing efforts for the community, participate in planning of RA training and engagement strategies for the upcoming academic year, and support customer service efforts for residents, guests, and conference participants. Intern will work approximately 20 hours per week for the duration of active employment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Develop marketing strategies for prospective residents and current residents
Create marketing assets and content including digital and print materials
Assist with RA training and ongoing professional development
Support development of residential engagement strategies for academic year
Assist with housing operations for summer residents
Assist with conference operations for summer guests
Support Housing Office with administrative tasks
Facilitate programmatic efforts for summer residents
Additional duties may be determined based on intern interests and department needs
Qualifications
Enrollment in undergraduate or graduate program
Experience in student housing leadership position or employment
Interest in an experience concentrated on resident engagement, student outreach, marketing
Ability to communicate clearly, both written and in speech
Must be punctual, organized, and able to meet deadlines
Ability to operate office equipment including computer, photocopier, fax, and telephone
Ability to move/lift up to 50 lbs
Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is mid-to-high paced. The noise level is usually moderate.
