Senior Account Manager
De Fontenay LTD, Lincoln, NE, United States
We’re looking for someone who can own client relationships – not just manage them. Someone who thinks commercially, acts strategically, and makes our clients feel like they’ve got the best digital partner they’ve ever had.
This is a senior role. You’ll lead on key accounts, drive growth across your portfolio, and set the standard for how we look after clients. You’ll also play an important part in developing the wider Account Management team.
If you’re the kind of person who builds genuine, long-term relationships – someone who’s equally comfortable in a strategy meeting as they are picking up the phone to sort a problem – we want to hear from you.
Location
Hybrid – work from our Lincoln or Grimsby offices, or from home.
(Must be a UK resident with a valid driving licence)
Why This Role Exists
As Laser Red has grown, so has the complexity of what we deliver and the value of the client relationships we manage. Our average client relationship is over 10 years – that doesn’t happen by accident. It takes people who care about the detail, think ahead, and treat every client like they matter.
We’ve recently brought in a Director of Client Operations & Strategy to lead the commercial side of the business, and now we need a senior account manager who can take ownership of our most important accounts. Someone who can lead on strategy, spot opportunities for growth, and help us raise the bar on how we manage clients across the board.
You’ll also be a key figure in developing the Account Management team – sharing what you know, mentoring where it’s needed, and helping us build a consistently excellent client experience.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Commercial Ownership.
Delivery & Problem Solving.
Team Contribution.
How This Role Works
You’ll report to Kevin Oliver, our Director of Client Operations & Strategy, and work alongside the existing Account Management team.
You’ll take ownership of a portfolio of key client accounts and be their main point of contact – making sure they always feel informed, supported, and confident in the work we’re delivering.
Internally, you’ll work closely with our Project Management, design, development, and marketing teams to make sure clients get the best possible outcomes. You won’t be project managing – but you will be the person who bridges the gap between what the client needs and what our delivery teams produce.
You’ll also play an important role in mentoring and supporting more junior members of the Account Management team – sharing your experience and helping us build a team that delivers a consistently high standard.
What You’ll Be Doing
Manage and grow relationships with a portfolio of key client accounts
Be willing to travel for face-to-face meetings when it matters
Lead regular performance and strategy conversations with senior stakeholders
Translate complex digital work into clear commercial outcomes – clients should understand the value, not just the deliverables
Build long-term partnerships based on trust, expertise, and reliability
Develop and own the digital roadmap for key accounts
Identify opportunities to improve performance, user experience, and growth
Lead strategic planning sessions and quarterly reviews
Make sure what we’re doing for clients ties back to their actual business objectives – not just ticking deliverables off a list
Commercial Ownership
Manage scopes, proposals, and pricing conversations in line with Laser Red’s rate card
Identify opportunities for additional work that delivers genuine value for clients
Ensure work is delivered efficiently and profitably
Delivery & Problem Solving
Work with Project Managers to unblock delivery issues when they affect the client relationship
Anticipate risks and address issues before they elevate
Ensure internal teams have clear direction, context, and priorities from the client side
Team Contribution
Support and coach junior Account Managers
Share knowledge and experience to help raise standards across the team
Contribute to improving how we manage accounts and client relationships as a business
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need to be a developer, but you should feel comfortable discussing digital projects and solutions with confidence.
Skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management
Ability to translate technical detail into business impact
Strategic thinking and problem solving
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Mindset
You’ve run client accounts before and you know what good looks like – you don’t need hand-holding
You’re confident discussing digital solutions with clients and can hold your own in a strategy conversation
You take ownership and responsibility for your accounts – they’re yours to grow
You spot problems before clients do and come with solutions, not just updates
You’re comfortable working with developers, designers, and marketers – you don’t need to understand their craft in detail, but you respect it and can translate between them and the client
You’re proactive and solutions-focused – you don’t wait to be told what to do
Full UK Driving licence required due to the nature of the role and requirement to visit clients.
Experience & Qualifications
Experience working in a digital agency environment
Experience managing digital clients or platforms, including retainers and ongoing relationships – not just one-off projects
Proven experience leading client meetings, reviews, and strategic conversations
Experience working closely with development, design, and marketing teams
Experience identifying and progressing upsell or growth opportunities
Experience handling challenging client situations and resolving issues effectively
Strong understanding of digital services such as: web development, eCommerce platforms, digital marketing, UX, CRO, branding
Strong understanding of digital platforms (e.g. Shopify, Magento, WordPress / WooCommerce)
Good working knowledge of digital marketing channels (SEO, PPC, paid social, email)
Ability to interpret and explain performance data and reports (e.g. Google Analytics, Looker Studio)
Confidence leading strategy discussions with clients
Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously
Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to balance client value and delivery effort
Clear and structured communication, both written and verbal
Experience identifying CRO / UX opportunities and translating them into actionable recommendations
Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or industrial sectors – our core client base is in these areas, so if you speak their language, that’s a genuine advantage
Degree in a relevant field (Marketing, Business, Digital, etc.)
Any relevant eCommerce or platform certifications (Shopify, Magento, etc.)
Exposure to platform migrations, redesigns, or major digital projects
What You’ll Achieve in Your First 90 Days
