
Supervisory Benefits Advisor

Job Title
This position supervises a team and provides public-facing technical assistance, outreach, and education on ERISA and related federal laws, resolving issues with plan sponsors and referring potential violations for investigation. Major duties include but are not limited to the following: Recommend allocation of resources and guide staff to ensure compliance with program goals and successful achievement of the organizational objectives. Evaluate the regional outreach program, identify improvement needs, and implement changes to increase overall efficiency and effectiveness. Deliver outreach and educational presentations that explain detailed benefits regulations in a way that diverse audiences can easily understand. Provide clear, accurate verbal guidance to staff on interpreting and applying laws and regulations affecting employee benefits. Manage multiple competing priorities within the program area to ensure work is completed efficiently and within set time frames. Leverage an understanding of EBSA's mission and regional goals to guide program strategies in support of agency priorities. Evaluate internal and external factors that impact the outreach and assistance program and make informed recommendations to guide resource allocation and program improvements. Provide authoritative guidance to staff on pension and health benefits issues by interpreting relevant laws and regulations and ensuring accurate and compliant application. Review and analyze inquiries involving sensitive benefits matters and prepare thorough, well-supported responses based on applicable regulations.
