Associate Writer - Disney Television Animation

About this Role and our Studio Disney Television Animation (DTVA) has over forty years of legacy as a top producer of kids & family entertainment. We create long‑ and short‑form content spanning traditional 2D, rig‑based 2D, CG (preschool), CG (premium), and stop‑motion, matching talent with the right production creatively. What You Will Do Work with the Story Editor to track and maintain critical information for the writer’s room (episode ideas, continuity documents, timelines, joke pitches, discarded story ideas, unused characters, etc.). Take clear, organized, and effective notes during meetings with the Story Editor, story breaks, pitches, and meetings with writers. Distribute notes to Story Editor, Writers, Producer/Line Producer, and other relevant parties. Proofread all outlines, scripts, synopsis, and loglines. Create, update, and distribute the writer’s schedule. Print script materials for meetings and records as needed. Prepare and distribute writing materials through various stages of production (Script Department, Casting/Music). Liaise with Casting and Music departments to ensure correct materials are recorded. Create, revise, and distribute pick‑up scripts and ADR memos. Conform scripts at each stage of production (animatic lock, record, etc.). Communicate completed deadlines to Producer/Line Producer. Create and maintain accurate and organized Script server folders. Partner with Writers and/or Story Editor to research and track materials. Prepare and maintain writer’s room for optimal writers’ sessions. In collaboration with Production, create and maintain Franchise tracker for series and episodes. Responsibilities (Creative) Observe and/or participate in writer brainstorms (at the discretion of Story Editor). Collaborate with Story Editor to maintain and update show bible, character descriptions, episode synopsis, franchise materials, and franchise tracker. Read the room to understand what the Story Editor and writers need for optimal writing conditions. Maintain positive working relationships with Story Editor, writers, production, and other departments. Additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications & Skills Knowledge of Final Draft. Outstanding written skills (clarity, grammar, organization, copy‑editing). Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to multi‑task. Understanding of how to prioritize and respond accordingly. Team‑player who operates in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented setting. Self‑motivated, flexible and versatile. Strong desire to be part of the TV and film industry with a focus on animation. Preferred Qualifications Include a cover letter that includes a brief personal bio and synopses for any sample writing materials provided. Job Location This is a fully on‑site role based in Glendale, CA. The pay rate in California is $45.97 – $52.58 per hour, following the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay offered may vary based on the candidate’s region, knowledge, skills, and experience.
