Director of Business Development– Multifamily Property Management

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly driven Business Development Lead to accelerate growth within its multifamily property management portfolio. This individual will be responsible for sourcing, developing, and closing new management opportunities while building long-term relationships with owners, investors, and institutional partners.

This role is ideal for a results-oriented professional with deep industry knowledge, strong market connections, and a proven track record of winning new business in the multifamily space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, pursue, and close new multifamily property management opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships with property owners, developers, investors, and brokers
  • Develop strategic partnerships to drive consistent deal flow
  • Lead the full business development lifecycle from prospecting through contract execution
  • Collaborate with operations, marketing, and executive leadership to align growth strategy
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities and competitive positioning
  • Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, presentations, and RFP responses
  • Maintain a robust pipeline and consistently meet or exceed growth targets
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in multifamily property management, real estate, or related business development roles
  • Proven track record of sourcing and closing third-party management deals
  • Strong network within the multifamily real estate industry (owners, investors, brokers)
  • Experience working with institutional and private owners preferred
  • Deep understanding of property management operations, financials, and value drivers
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-starter with a high level of accountability and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Proficiency with CRM tools and pipeline management

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in third-party property management firms
  • Exposure to both market-rate and value-add assets
  • Familiarity with ownership structures (REITs, private equity, syndications)
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
