Job Overview
The Communications and PR Manager is responsible for leading and evolving Amica’s communications and public relations function as a strategic driver of brand reputation, trust, and business growth. Oversee a high‑performing team responsible for shaping the company’s voice across all internal and external touchpoints, ensuring communications are not only consistent and credible, but differentiated and impactful.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead a modern content and communications team capable of delivering high‑quality, high‑impact work at scale across multiple formats and channels, balancing speed, creativity, and precision. Shape and drive an integrated communications strategy that aligns with enterprise growth priorities, ensuring all messaging advances brand differentiation, customer trust, and business outcomes.
- Lead the evolution of the communications function by integrating AI and emerging technologies into content development and workflows, establishing best practices for responsible use while upskilling the team to operate in a rapidly changing communications landscape.
- Serve as a primary steward of Amica’s brand voice, setting and enforcing standards for messaging, voice, and tone to ensure consistency, credibility, and alignment with brand and reputation objectives across Marketing, Communications & Growth.
- Lead Amica’s public relations, thought leadership, and reputation strategy, proactively shaping narratives, identifying opportunities to elevate the brand, and guiding response strategies in moments of risk or visibility. Act as a company spokesperson as appropriate, representing Amica with authority and professionalism in media and public‑facing engagements.
- Establish success metrics for communications and PR efforts, leveraging data, media insights, and audience feedback to continuously refine strategy and demonstrate impact on brand and business outcomes.
- Provide communications leadership for high‑profile, enterprise‑level initiatives, including the annual report, annual meeting, Leadership Summit, and other executive communications and corporate events.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders across the organization, serving as a trusted advisor on messaging, audience impact, and reputational considerations.
- Partner across Brand, Media, Digital, Data, and Product teams to ensure communications are integrated, insight‑driven, and optimized across the full customer journey.

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required; degree in English, journalism, communications, or public relations preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the personal lines insurance industry.
- Experience managing complex, sensitive situations requiring strategic communication, rapid decision‑making, and reputational awareness.
- Strong interpersonal skills and at least five years of experience leading a diverse team.
- Demonstrated ability to adopt and apply emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance communications effectiveness while maintaining strong editorial judgment and ethical standards.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills paired with critical thinking and sound editorial judgment to shape clear, effective, and audience‑appropriate messaging.
- Strong understanding of branding and style guidelines.
- Proven ability to manage high‑volume, fast‑paced environments with competing priorities and tight timelines. Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and guide senior stakeholders through complex communication decisions.
Employment Details
The 37.5‑hour work week is scheduled from Monday through Friday, between the core hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. A hybrid schedule will be available once trained to work independently, with three days reporting to our Lincoln, RI office and two days working from home.
