Tesla is seeking a Sr. Operational Lead to join our North America Used Cars leadership team and build the future pre‑owned vehicle trade‑in experience. As a Sr. Operational Lead on the Used Cars team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the long‑term success of the business. Your key responsibilities will include designing and launching best‑in‑class digital trade‑in experience enhancements, integrating AI and machine learning models to support seamless trade‑in estimates, and collaborating with the Trade‑In Support and Digital Products teams to eliminate operational bottlenecks. This dynamic and multifaceted position requires exceptional communication skills, a developed understanding of business operations, and a track record of effectively guiding initiatives to success under challenging conditions.
This role can be located at either Palo Alto, CA or Austin, TX.
What you'll Do
Design and launch digital trade inexperience enhancements on the website and mobile app to streamline the customer trade in journey from initial inquiry to final approval
Integrate AI and machine‑learning models to provide instant, accurate trade‑in estimates and reduce the need for manual data entry
Collaborate with the Tesla Trade In team and Digital Products to identify bottlenecks, propose process enhancements, and implement best practice solutions that cut cycle time and improve evaluation accuracy
Create dashboards and KPI metrics to monitor trade‑in throughput, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and trade‑in margins
Conduct user experience research and usability testing to continuously improve the digital interfaces and overall customer experience
Lead cross‑functional initiatives (Product, Data Science, Operations) to ensure seamless integration of new tools and processes
Provide training and change management support to the Trade In team, ensuring adoption of new technologies and procedures
What you'll Bring
5+ years of professional experience in a company or business unit of comparable complexity
Hands on experience in trade‑in or customer experience design for automotive or retail sector. Bonus if experience in integrating AI/ML models to deliver instant, accurate trade‑in valuations and improve customer satisfaction
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies
Detail‑oriented with a commitment to accuracy, quality, and confidentiality.
Can‑do attitude and a maniacal sense of urgency
Willingness to work on difficult challenges and projects regardless of discipline
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and present complex information clearly
